East Boston Main Streets (EBMS) is proud to announce its newly elected slate of officers: Joseph Ruggiero III as President, Jeff Thomas as Vice President, and Alex Phillips as Secretary. The leadership transition reflects EBMS’s continued commitment to vibrant business districts, welcoming public spaces, and a strong, inclusive neighborhood economy. The officers will help EBMS celebrate the thirty anniversary of its founding next year, including the 30th edition of Taste of Eastie, its signature fundraising event and community food festival held each July.

“East Boston’s small businesses are the backbone of our community,” said Joseph Ruggiero III, EBMS President. “Our team is ready to build on EBMS’s momentum—supporting local entrepreneurs, improving our commercial corridors, and making our main streets more inviting for everyone.”

“Our priorities are clear: help businesses thrive, activate our squares with year-round programming, and collaborate with residents and partners across the neighborhood,” added Jeff Thomas, Vice President.

“As Secretary, I’m focused on transparency and communication, as well as advocacy to support the long-term economic vitality of our neighborhood, ” said Alex Phillips.

Community members are invited to meet the new officers and EBMS Board at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Maverick Square from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, featuring Mayor Michelle Wu and other elected officials.
