Local Students Earn Academic Honors

Jonathan Casavant of Boston named to Deans’ List 

Jonathan Casavant of East Boston has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2024-25 academic year.

Casavant, a graduate student working toward a Master of Business Administration, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Business.

More than 6,700 students at Nebraska were named to the Deans’ List for the spring semester.

Qualification for the Deans’ List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center. Listed below are the minimum requirements for each entity and the name of its respective dean or director. All qualifying grade-point averages are based on a four-point scale and a minimum number of graded semester hours. Students can be on the Deans’ List for more than one college.

• College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, 3.75; Interim Dean Thomas Burkey.

• College of Architecture, 3.75; Dean Kevin G. Van Den Wymelenberg.

• College of Arts and Sciences, 3.7; Acting Dean Patrick Dussault.

• College of Business, 3.6; Dean Kathy Farrell.

• College of Education and Human Sciences, 3.75; Interim Dean Nicholas J. Pace.

• College of Engineering, 3.5; Dean Lance C. Perez.

• College of Journalism and Mass Communications, 3.7; Dean Shari Veil.

• Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, 3.7; Dean Andy Belser.

• Explore Center for undeclared, pre-engineering, pre-health and pre-law students, 3.6; Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Undergraduate Education Amy Goodburn.

Murphy named to Mississippi State President’s List

Katherine Murphy, of East Boston, was named to the Mississippi State University spring 2025 President’s List.

Students on the President’s List achieved a 3.80 or better grade-point average, based on a 4.0 scale, while completing at least 12 semester hours of coursework with no incomplete grades or grades lower than a C.

Local Emerson College Students Earn Dean’s List Honors 

The following students are named to Emerson College’s Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester.

Junhao Huang of East Boston is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2026.

Ayaana Nayak of East Boston is majoring in Creative Writing BFA and is a member of the Class of 2025.

Local student earning valuable experience as a summer intern

 Michelle Andrade of East Boston is earning real-world experience as an Emmanuel College intern at Public Consulting Group this summer.

The intersection of classroom learning and practical application is central to the Emmanuel experience, with 100% of graduates completing at least one career-igniting internship.

More than 110 Emmanuel College students are learning on the job and building professional networks through internships this summer.

East Boston Resident Named to Dean College’s Dean’s List

Dean College is pleased to announce that Gina Castagna of East Boston has earned a place on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2025 semester. Students named to the Dean’s List have demonstrated a serious commitment to their studies while at Dean College.

Tufts University awarded more than 2,800 degrees across all schools during its ceremony commemorating the accomplishments of the Class of 2025.
