Despite May showers on both days, the annual city league track championship for the Boston Public Schools took place at recently White Stadium.
The two-day event was a colorful sight as students from East Boston and other Boston high schools competed in the many events.
While Latin Academy is the new city champion with a total of 126 points, the Eastie track team did well in many events.
Athletes like Carlos Ruiz placed 1st in the 800 meter run. The boy’s team placed 2nd in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Orlandino Gray and Carlos Azor placed 1st and 2nd respectively in 110-meter hurdles.
The girl’s team got close to the top three spots in many events with the girls placing 4th in the 4 x 100 meter relay race.
Alicia Aispuro came in 3rd in the 2 mile run while Nicole Cooper placed 5th in the 1 mile run.
