YMCA’s Reach Out Breakfast raises $130,000 to support local youth

The East Boston YMCA brought together more than 440 community members, business partners, elected officials, and supporters for its annual Reach Out Breakfast on Friday, October 16, at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. Featuring remarks from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, the event raised $130,000 to strengthen the Y’s ability to support local children, individuals, and families.

Centered on the theme “Built by Community, Powered by You,” the breakfast celebrated the relationships that make the East Boston YMCA a welcoming place to learn, grow, and connect.

Mayor Michelle Wu delivered featured remarks, joining the East Boston YMCA in celebrating its impact and the community partnerships that help expand opportunities for Boston’s children and families. Her participation underscored the importance of bringing city leaders, local organizations, and residents together to support strong, connected neighborhoods.

State Representative Adrian Madaro served as emcee, bringing warmth, enthusiasm, and a deep connection to East Boston to the morning’s celebration. A dedicated champion for the community, Madaro helped bring the Y’s mission to life, keeping the room energized and inspiring attendees to invest in opportunities for their neighbors.

Boston City Councilor Gabriela Coletta-Zapata also addressed attendees, highlighting community partnerships and the Y’s role in supporting local families. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden joined fellow elected officials, community leaders, and supporters for the celebration.

The program featured a children’s performance and a video showcasing the people and programs at the heart of the East Boston YMCA. A live appeal raised approximately $10,000, demonstrating the community’s commitment to expanding access and opportunity.

“This breakfast showed what makes our community so special—people showing up for one another,” said Joey Gaeta, Executive Director of the East Boston YMCA. “Every gift helps us open doors for more children and families. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, board members, staff, volunteers, and everyone who believes in the work we do together.”

Funds raised help support access to YMCA programs and services, including swim lessons, youth sports, summer camp, teen opportunities, and financial assistance. These investments help ensure that more people can experience the connection, confidence, and sense of belonging the Y provides.

The East Boston YMCA gratefully recognizes presenting sponsor Massport; gold sponsors Amazon, Cargo Ventures, East Boston Foundation, Enterprise, and Signature Aviation; and silver sponsors HCMI Inc. and Marketplace Development for their generous support in making the breakfast possible.

The Y also extends its appreciation to its Board of Advisors, staff, volunteers, and the Hilton Boston Logan Airport team for their contributions to the event.

Community members can continue to amplify the breakfast’s impact by making a donation to support the East Boston YMCA’s programs and financial assistance at anytime at the Y.
