Atlantic Works Gallery, 80 Border St., East Boston, is pleased to announce, “We Find Ourselves in Shape of Home,” on view August 1 through August 29. This exhibit will showcase East Boston artist, Victoria “thirteenvic” DelValle as a guest artist this month.
The opening reception is Saturday, August 1, 4-7 p.m.
Third Thursday Artist Talk and Reception is August 20, 6-9 p.m.
“We Find Ourselves in Shape of Home” is a series of drawings and paintings that examines how the Puerto Rican diaspora preserves culture through architecture and community design. The work examines how deliberate syncretism and hybridity shape material expression, structural forms, and public spaces in Villa Victoria, creating environments that are at once familiar, unsettling, and liminal.
Through layered textures, transitional color palettes, overlapping structures, dissolving figures, and graffiti-influenced mark-making, the pieces emphasize the relationship between architecture and identity. Together, they depict spaces formed by migration, collective memory, and inherited culture, while illuminating the often-overlooked histories embedded within syncretic environments.
Regular gallery hours throughout the exhibition are Fridays and Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m., or by appointment.
