Spartans Win East Boston Youth Basketball Championship

On Saturday March 18, the Spartans, Coached by Vin Guarino defeated the Panthers coached by Dennis Leary 33 to 20. The Spartans played outstanding basketball the entire game. Corey Bicknell led the way scoring a game high 25 points while dominating the boards. Nicholas Guarino added 8 points and some tough defense to the cause. Nathan Guarino rounded out the scoring. The Spartans offense was directed expertly all game by point guard Thomas Granara. They did a great job moving the ball all day! Ava Cincotti, Marco Bicknell, and Arianna Hernandez hustled and played great defense. Nicholas Lagrassa and Sebastian Gutierrez lead the way for the Panthers with 8 points apiece. This season was a great one due to the tremendous group of coaches. Special thanks to head referee Bill Gore and head scorekeeper Jen Rock. Several awards were presented that day as well. Corey Bicknell won the “Marty Pino Sportsmanship Award”. Corey has participated in the program for many years and has improved as a player but more importantly is a great teammate. In addition, Michael Gaeta, League President, received an award for 37 years of dedication to the program. Michael gives of his time selflessly. The program couldn’t operate without him.
