Laura Arrigo

Past Member of St. Lazarus Church Courageous Generation

Laura (Pagano) Arrigo of Winthrop passed away in her 100th year on August 22.

 The beloved wife of the late George Arrigo, she was the devoted mother of George Arrigo and his wife, Marguerite of East Boston, Doreen Arrigo Shanahan and her husband, Brian of Florida and the late Sandra Santarpio and her late husband, George; dear sister of Ann Dellaria of East Boston and the late Tina DePippo and Frank Pagano; cherished grandmother of Stacey Arrigo-Kelly, Nicole Mondello, Deanna Flynn, Alicia Ayoub and Dylan Shanahan and adored great-grandmother of eight loving great grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and she was also loved by her friends, family and caretakers at the Parc at Harbor View Senior Living in Winthrop.

Family and friends honored Laura’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, Orient Heights East Boston on Saturday, August 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. Joseph – St. Lazarus Church, East Boston, for a 12 Noon Mass celebrating Laura’s life. Stanley Buonagurio

Proud US Navy Veteran of WWII and East Boston Community Volunteer

Stanley W. Buonagurio of East Boston and Point Shirley, Winthrop died on August 23 in his 100th year.

A proud World War II US Navy veteran, “Bonnie” worked as an electrician at the Boston Naval Shipyard and the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.      

After his retirement, he volunteered his time at the East Boston High School and the East Boston Community Development Commission.            

The beloved husband of the late Edna F. (Laurano) Buonagurio with whom he shared 66 years of marriage, he was the loving father of Juliet Bettano and her late husband, Carl of Winthrop, Rita Cutroni and her husband, Paul of Waltham, Edna Howard and her husband, Paul of Stratham, NH, Stanley Buonagurio of East Boston and his significant companion, Heather Bolt of Malden, the late Peter A. Buonagurio and the brother-in-law of Gloria Laurano of East Boston. He was the cherished grandfather of 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements were by Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beech Street, Revere.  Burial with Military Honors was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.

Mark Vitale

Retired Boston School Traffic Supervisor

Mark C. Vitale died in East Boston on August 26 after a long illness. 

A retired City of Boston, School Traffic Supervisor, he was the beloved son of the late Valerie A.(Veiga) and Michael J. Vitale, the loving brother of Lauren and her husband, Nicloa DiTomaso of East Boston, Dayna and her husband, Laurence Alberto of Medford and the late Jay M. Vitale; uncle of Tyler, Deana, Alichia and Michael and grand-uncle of Boden.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., East Boston on Thursday morning, Sept. 1 at 11a.m. Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting hours in the Magrath Funeral Home, 336 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] East Boston will be held today, Wednesday, August 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elm St, Everett.  Please leave messages of condolence for his family on his Tribute Page at MagrathFuneralHome.com.
