John Nucci, A Remarkable Person
To the Editors:
I was delighted to learn of John Nucci’s reappointment to the Massport Board of Directors for another full seven year term, by unanimous vote of the Massport Community Advisory Committee (CAC). As a former Massport Board member myself, I deeply appreciate the enormous contributions that John Nucci has made to the well being and best interests of the 35 diverse communities that are adversely impacted by Logan Airport. Thanks to John Nucci’s effective advocacy these communities-including East Boston, Winthrop, Revere and Chelsea- have received substantial environmental remediation and obligations by Massport to continue doing so.
As the Times reminded us, John Nucci has had an extraordinary public service career including distinguished terms as a Boston City Councilor, President of the Boston School Committee, Suffolk County Clerk and direct support of many community organization and non-profits. He has overcome a severe medical condition (PKD), undergoing a complex kidney transplant procedure and setting a remarkable personal example by continuing his public service leadership thereafter.
