Eastie’s Sebastian Parra Joins Councilor Coletta’s Staff

This week District 1 Boston City Councilor Gabriela Coletta announced the appointment of East Boston’s Sebastian Para as her newly hired East Boston Liaison.

Born and raised in Medellin, Colombia Parra moved to Eastie in 2016 when he was 15 years old.

Para quickly established himself as a bright and hardworking student at East Boston High School where he was a member of the student council, the Kiwanis Key Club and the National Honors Society.

He graduated from Eastie High in 2019 as Class President and went on to Lesley University where he will be a senior next year. Para is majoring in Digital Filmmaking and minoring in Graphic Design.

Para recently came back from the United Kingdom, where he spent the second half of 2021 studying abroad and exploring the streets of London.

Para said with his background in the arts he has always been interested in community and hopes to bring the neighborhood’s many cultures to the foreground of the City of Boston. In the near future, he said he hopes to make a movie about the different experiences of the people from Eastie.

“I am excited to be part of Councilor Coletta’s team and be able to give back to East Boston, a community that gave me so much love and received me with open arms since the moment I arrived in the United States,” said Parra. “I have known Councilor Coletta and her family for many years now, and knowing who she is and where she comes from, I am confident that together we will work towards change in East Boston.”

Coletta also announced Elvira Mora will join her staff as Director of Civic Organizing and Eva Scapicchio, daughter of former District 1 City Councilor Paul Scapicchio, will join as North End Liaison.

“I’m incredibly excited to have Sebastian, Elvira and Eva join my office,” said Councilor Coletta. “Each individual brings key credentials, experience and passion for communities within District One. They all have the skill set for this moment to ensure that together, we are building an energetic and inclusive community across the district.”
