Local Students Earn Academic Honors

Local Students Graduate BU

Boston University awarded academic degrees to 6,927 students in May 2020.                                                       

 Receiving degrees were Daniela Ramirez, Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Development, Cum Laude; Elizabeth Yepes, Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Development; Jennifer Schrader, Master of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management; Sarah I. Bradley, Master of Education in Reading Education; Mehraj R. Awal, Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology, Program in Biomedical Sciences.

Local students named to Bridgewater State University Dean’s list

The following East Boston residents were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Bridgewater State University:

Douglas Alvarado, Rehanna Fernandes Nunez and Kate Martinez.

Local students Named To Dean’s List AT Boston University   

Three East Boston residents have recently been named to the Dean’s List at Boston University for the Spring semester.               

Students recognized for this honor include: Christopher Iturralde, Daniela  

Ramirez, Kevin Wu.                                                          

Each school and college at Boston University has their own criterion for the Dean’s List, but students generally must attain a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), or be in the top 30 percent of their class, as well as a full course load as a full time student.

Local students named to University of Massachusetts Dean’s List

Below is a list of local students who were named to the dean’s list at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the spring 2020 semester.

In order to qualify, an undergraduate student must receive a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a four-point scale.

The local students on Dean’s List are as follows:

George Named to UA Deans List

Mary George, of East Boston, was named to The University of Alabama Deans List for spring 2020.

A total of 16,470 students enrolled during the 2020 spring term at UA were named to the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s).

The UA Dean’s and President’s lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

East Boston Resident Graduates from William James College

 Lauren Rotundo of East Boston graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William James College.

Students at William James College train to become culturally-competent professionals in psychology, behavioral health, leadership and human services fields.

“Completing your degree and receiving your diploma marks the end of a considerable period of growth and the beginning of the next phase of your life,” said William James College President Nicholas Covino in an email to the graduates. “Each of you is well-trained to bring relief and support to organizations and individuals who need your talents. We speak about the limited access to psychological services at all levels, your arrival on the scene changes that a bit.”

William James College has been celebrating graduates with virtual ceremonies this spring, and will hold a formal Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, September 13, 2020.

Leitch has been named to the Champlain College Trustees’ List for the Spring 2020 semester

Stephen Leitch of East Boston, who is majoring in Cybersecurity, was named to the Champlain College Trustees’ List for the Spring 2020 semester.

Students on the Trustees’ List have achieved a 4.0 grade point average for two or more consecutive semesters.

Making the Trustees’ List is a tremendous achievement in any year, and the global pandemic added unprecedented challenges for all of our students who often juggle academics with many other responsibilities. We congratulate our students on this great accomplishment and honor.
