EBCCS Students Gets Help from the Catholic Schools Foundation and the Inner City Scholarship Fund

Private education in East Boston has long been a tradition for thousands of families searching for an alternative to public schools.

However, in the past three decades, Eastie has lost several options for families with St. Lazarus School and later St. Mary’s School closing, leaving East Boston Central Catholic School (EBCCS) as the lone provider of private education here.

While private education has a cost, EBCCS administrators have worked to keep tuition affordable for a number of families through scholarships and other incentives.

This week EBCCS’s Principal Robert Casaletto announced that Central Catholic has become a Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) Sponsored School for the 2019-20 school year. The CSF Sponsored Schools are a select group of Catholic elementary and high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston expanding access to high-quality Catholic education through CSF’s Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF).

The ICSF is the signature program of the CSF, and this year the program will provide $11 million in scholarship support to over 4,000 students in the Archdiocese.

ICSF has been dedicated to providing exceptional, values-based education for low-income families for three decades.

“The students supported through the ICSF are the future leaders of our society and we are thrilled to be able to invest in them through a Catholic education,” said Executive Director of CSF Mike Reardon.

EBCCS is an inner-city Catholic School serving the academic and spiritual needs of Eastie and the surrounding communities for over 40 years.

“EBCCS accepts students from preschool through eighth grade, many of whom would not be able to attend without the very generous and continued support from the Catholic Schools Foundation and the Inner City Scholarship Fund,” said Casaletto. EBCCS provides a welcoming atmosphere in the Catholic tradition where faith and knowledge meet to provide a solid foundation for life-long learning.  We empower each child to reach their full potential through a process that encourages character development, spiritual growth, and academic excellence.

At EBCCS, our values are your values: Formed through Faith, Sustained by Family, Enriched in Wisdom, Inspired to Achieve, and Empowered to Serve.”
