Three men were arrested Sunday after a violent struggle with police. According to police at 1 p.m. officers from District A-7 Drug Control Unit made three onsite arrests and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Saratoga Street and Swift Street in East Boston.
While on patrol in the area officers observed an apparent drug transaction involving three males.
Officers approached the individuals, one of whom was on foot walking towards Swift Street.
Once officers approached them, one of the males pushed one of the officers with both hands in an attempt to flee.
Officers eventually secured the male in the area of 591 Saratoga St., and subsequently located a Smith and Wesson M&P .380 Body Guard firearm loaded with six rounds of live ammunition from the suspect who was then taken into custody.
Officers then focused their attention on the remaining males, who had fled the area inside a motor vehicle towards the Route 1A ramp.
Officers observed the operator fail to use his turn signal then immediately pulled to the side of the road with both males simultaneously placing their heads toward their lap as if they were examining an item.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an effort to conduct a traffic stop.
One male operator abruptly placed his car in drive and attempted to flee the scene. The suspect switched gears between drive and reverse, striking a parked car and a police cruiser occupied by officers.
Officers exited their vehicle and approached the suspect who was still actively trying to flee the scene in his motor vehicle, at one point accelerating towards officers.
A violent struggle took place both inside and outside of the suspect’s motor vehicle. Eventually, the operator was subdued and taken into custody. The male passenger was also removed from the vehicle without incident and placed under arrest. Officers located a folding knife on the operator’s person. Officers additionally recovered a plastic bag containing a substance believed to be cocaine from inside of the vehicle along with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.
Officers arrested Nicholas Boyd, 18 years old, of Everett, Brendan Boyd, 22 years old, of Everett, and Angelo Ramos, 22 years old, of Winthrop.
Boyd was arraigned in East Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
Ramos was arraigned in East Boston District Court on charges of Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Malicious Destruction of a Motor Vehicle, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.
Boyd was discovered to have an active out of Malden District Court for Violation of a Restraining Order.
