East Boston Legacy Gala to Honor 5 Extraordinary Women

On Saturday evening of Mother’s Day Weekend, May 12, the extended East Boston Community will gather at 4:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Mass at Sacred Heart Parish followed by a 6:00 p.m. reception, dinner, auction and honoree tribute for the 2018 East Boston Legacy Gala at Spinelli’s Function Facility to celebrate Catholic education and benefit East Boston Central Catholic School.

This year’s theme “A Legacy of Faith, Hope and Love” pays tribute to mothers and grandmothers who have given witness in their daily lives to the gift of faith, the joy of hope, and the power of love.  This Second Annual Gala honors five extraordinary women who have taught each of us in the community of East Boston how the greatest lessons in life – faith, hope, and love – begin with family.

“In a day and age when it seems values are lost and examples of goodness are hard to come by, we are proud to pause and honor five extraordinary women who represent the very best of East Boston,” said Joe Ruggiero, Co-chair of this year’s Legacy Gala.

Honorees for this year’s gala are Mrs. Lina Capogreco, Mrs. Lucy Fiandaca, Mrs. Maryann Gravallese, Mrs. Connie Sullivan and Mrs. Rose Tacelli – each of whom have been lifelong East Boston residents who have raised their families in the community.

“East Boston is a community of hard working and caring people because of the lessons set forth by so many mothers and grandmothers whose lives have been examples for each of us” said John Zirpolo, Gala Co-chair. “We are honored to honor them for their life-long witness of what it means to be from Eastie.”

Proceeds from this annual event support the mission of East Boston Central Catholic School, a pre-k-8th grade Catholic elementary school serving families throughout East Boston and surrounding communities.   “Last year we were pleased to honor extraordinary educators upon their retirement from Catholic education.   This year we honor women of faith who have lived lives filled with hope and love, lessons we try to instill in our students each day at EBCCS,” said Robert Casaletto, Principal of East Boston Central Catholic School.
