City Council Candidate Lydia Edwards Appoints East Boston Resident Gabriela Coletta as Campaign Manager

Lydia Edwards, a Boston City Council District 1 candidate and public interest attorney, announced that Gabriela Coletta, a lifelong East Boston resident with political experience in local and statewide campaigns, was named manager of the District 1 campaign.

“Gabriela’s knowledge of the district and political savvy positions her to lead my campaign for Boston City Councilor,” said Edwards. “I am confident in her robust organizing skills, experience in local campaigns, and her leadership. I am thrilled to have her as my campaign manager.”

“As a young, fourth-generation East Bostonian hoping to continue to live and raise a family in this district, I identify with Lydia’s vision for our neighborhoods,” said Coletta. “She is a proven advocate for working families and believes that city government can help to better people’s everyday lives. I am honored to join Lydia’s campaign and look forward to spreading her ideas across the district, which will ultimately serve the city well.”

Coletta got her first campaign experience as field director for now-State Representative Adrian Madaro’s successful campaign in 2015 and subsequently served as his community outreach liaison. She is the outgoing Associate Director of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus where she initiated programs to engage young women in the political process and helped to develop campaign strategy for their Political Action Committee.

Coletta worked in U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey’s office in Washington, D.C through the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate Young Leaders Network Scholarship. She was also a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Aaron Michlewitz of the North End.
