Meeting for the 99th time on Thanksgiving morning at White Stadium, the East Boston High football team defeated South Boston by a score of 59-12. This was Eastie’s eighth straight win against Southie on Thanksgiving Day.
One senior going out in style in his last game as a Jet was Joel Pastrana who scored four touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass from co-captain Jeff Benzan.
Although a blowout score with Eastie leading 44-0 at halftime, Southie battled back, getting on the board in the third and fourth quarters. Rebuilding and 0-11 last year, the Southie Knights concluded this season at 2-7.
Eastie ends its season at 5-6 with the win on Thanksgiving.
Eastie leads the annual series, 51-42-6.
