The Boston public schools are beginning their new year under the leadership of a new superintendent of schools, Dr. Tommy Chang, who took office July 1.
Dr. Chang has the challenging task of leading a school department that is responsible for the education of Boston’s 57,000 students. Dr. Chang was known for his innovative views on education during his time as an administrator in the Los Angeles school district and we look forward to seeing his approach to the Boston school system. Dr. Chang has been busy the past two months preparing for a smooth start to the school year while outlining his goals and laying the foundation for the three-year plan that he intends to implement for the school system.
We want to wish our students the best of luck as they begin the school year. It’s an especially important year for the seniors at East Boston High School who are beginning the college application process. We’re sure that Principal Phil Brangiforte and his dedicated faculty and staff will provide the excellent leadership and guidance that they have in the past, helping our students prepare for college and other post-graduate opportunities.
We also advise motorists to exercise caution with the additional traffic and the many students walking to and from school.
