Anna Bocchino

Of East Boston, formerly of Italy

Anna (DelGiudice) Bocchino of East Boston, formerly of Nusco Avellino, Italy died on July 28.

She was the beloved wife of over 49 years to Amato Bocchino; devoted mother of Amato, Jr. and his wife, Alyssa of Beverly, Marie Bocchino of Wenham and Nancy Bocchino Lahyani and her husband, Said of East Boston; dear sister of Giulia, Suor Maura, Suor Claudia, Francesco, Ettore, Gerardo and Salvatore, all of Italy and the late Giuseppe, Amato and Antonio; cherished grandmother of Evan, Arianna, Lela and Stella and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., (Orient Heights) East Boston on Friday, August 2 at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life at Sacred Heart Church, Brooks Street, East Boston at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. John DeStefano

Formerly of Winthrop and East Boston

John DeStefano of Turner Falls, MA, formerly of Winthrop and East Boston, died on July 26 surrounded by his loving family. He was 63 years old.

The cherished son of the late Outino and Grace (Faldetta) DeStefano, he was the loving brother of Richard DeStefano of Everett, Angela Nolan of New Hampshire, Marie Destefano-Barry and Lorraine DeStefano, both of Woburn and Janet Modesta of Tewksbury and the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Palma Law

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

Palma (Iantosca) Law of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died on July 24.

She was the beloved wife of 55 years of the late William “Billy” Law who passed away in April of 2012; dear sister of Angel R. Iantosca and Christine Capillo of Danvers and the late Frank Iantosca. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home. Services concluded with Palma being laid to rest alongside her beloved Billy in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. May they rest in peace.

Judith ‘Judy’ Milito

Judith A. “Judy” (Wilkes) Milito of East Boston died on July 27.

A clerk for the Department of Revenue, she was the beloved wife of the late Ignazio John Milito; cherished daughter of the late Frederick Wilkes, Sr. and Helen Wilkes; most loving mother of Robert LaVigueur and his wife, Sandra of Winthrop, Paul LaVigueur of East Boston, Debbie LaVigueur of East Boston, Dana LaVigueur- Rossetti of Winthrop, Deborah Milito of Tewksbury, John Milito and his wife, Doreen of Saugus and Joseph Milito and his wife, Debra of Revere; dear sister of Frederick Wilkes, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy of East Boston and is also survived by many loving grandchildren, a niece and nephews.

Vincent Ferri

Vincent R. Ferri of Revere died on July 27.

A past member of the Revere Sons of Italy, he was the devoted father of Vincent G. Ferri and his wife, Lisa; former husband of Sandra (Cutillo) Ferri and her companion, Alfred Doucette, all of Revere; cherished Papa of Vincent J. Ferri, dear brother of Joseph Ferri and his wife, Joann of Saugus, loving uncle of Allyson and Joseph and companion of Terry Mazzone of Winthrop.

Sister M. Patrick Burke

Taught at St. Mary Star of the Sea School in East Boston

Sister M. Patrick (Eleanor) Burke, a Sister of Mercy for 62 years, died July 11 after a period of declining health. She was 86 years old.

A native of Dover, New Hampshire, the daughter of Arthur P. and Mary Josephine (Greene) Burke, Sister Patrick received her B.A. in English from Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire and her M.Ed. in guidance from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She was a dedicated teacher and administrator in schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Sister Patrick taught at St. Patrick School in Manchester, and St. Patrick School in Berlin, and was principal at St. Mary School in Claremont, New Hampshire. In Massachusetts, she was a teacher at St. Mary Star of the Sea School in East Boston. From 1970 to 1977, she was Director of Marian Court Junior College (now Marian Court College) in Swampscott, Massachusetts. For 25 years, from 1977 to 2002, she taught at St. Ann School in Gloucester.

After retiring from full-time teaching, Sister Patrick served until 2012 as a teaching assistant at Immaculate Conception School in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Sister Patrick is survived by a sister, Frances Burke and a brother, Arthur Burke, both of Dover; a niece, Mary Desjarlais; three nephews, Kevin, Michael, and James Burke; many cousins and by her Mercy Community. Michelina (Mattaliano) Messina of East Boston passed away peacefully on July 29 surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old.

The beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Messina, she was the loving mother of Salvatore Messina and his wife, Lina of Saugus, Josephina Alfe and her husband, Pasquale of Saugus, and Michael Messina and his wife, Rosemary of Malden; cherished grandmother of Pietro and Lisa Alfe of Lynnfield, Fina and Paul Sindoni of Ipswich, Meraly and Scott Therrien of Peabody, Patrizia and Louis Savino of Rowley, Daniela Messina of Salem, Salvatore and David Messina of Saugus, Lisa and Eric Viliott of Melrose, Michael and Andrea Messina of Malden and Laura and Bill Brown of Melrose; great-grandmother of Pietro, GianLuca, Nina, Isabella, Sofia, Matthew, Jonathan, Colby, Julianna, Malia, Noah Dylan, Tristan and Alexandria; dear sister of Grazia Gangi of East Boston , the late Sadie DiBella, Rosa Messina, Stefano, Angelo, and Filippo.
