Police Seek Help in Finding Gas Station Robber

East Boston police are looking for the community’s help in identifying a man who attempted to rob the Mobil Gas Station on Meridian Street last Thursday. Police released a surveillance photo this week of the man being sought in connection with the incident.

According to police at 7:12 p.m.  last Thursday evening officer received a radio call for a hold-up alarm at the Mobil Gas Station located at 470 Meridian St.

When police arrived a visibly shaken and upset store clerk said a suspect attempted to rob the store. The victim said that a black male, dark complexion, 5’10″-6′, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, beard with medium thickness, and blue jeans entered the store.

The victim said the suspect put his hands in his waistband as if he was reaching for a weapon. The suspect reportedly told the clerk, “Come on, come on.. Just give me the money”.

The clerk refused to give the suspect money and the suspect repeated the same phrase to the clerk.

The clerk refused again and yelled at the suspect to, “Just get out of here”.

The victim said the suspect then walked out of the store and headed in the direction of the Shore Plaza Development.

The suspect did not take anything from the store. A witness at Honey Dew Donuts located in the same store said she heard the suspect enter the store and demand the money. The witness confirmed the description of the suspect. Officers canvassed the area to no avail.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call District A-7 (East Boston) detectives at 617-343-4234.

The same gas station was robbed at gunpoint in January. In that incident, the clerk said that the suspect entered the store, pointed a shotgun at him and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the store on foot.

Police later arrested the suspect.
