Swim Coach Diana Vergara recently started up a swim team at the Harborside Community Center consisting of 10 swimmers ranging in ages from 7-17 years old. The name of the team is Harborside Swim Team.
“On February 4, 2011 we are having a swim meet at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC) against the Paris Street and Blackstone Community Centers,” said Vergara. “On February 11 we are racing against Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center and the Dorchester House.”
Then on March 4 the team will race against Blackstone, Paris Street and Flaherty Pool swim team. On March 11, the team will have a meet against the Draper Pool and Condon Pool swim teams.
The City Championship will be held on March 18, and 25. The team is competing against the Dorchester House, the Hennigan swim team, Condon swim team, BCNC, and the Mildred Avenue swim team.
“The objective of the Harborside Swim Team is to provide our children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of competitive swimming, to develop and improve their physical skills, and to develop a positive attitude, self-image, responsibility, good sportsmanship, and team enthusiasm,” said Vergara. “We practice Monday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and we are working hard to win the championship on March 18 and March 25.”
