Dorothy Carco

Formerly of East Boston

Dorothy E. (d’Este) Carco, formerly of Malden and East Boston, died on December22. She was in her 94th year.

She was the wife of the late Louis J. Carco; devoted mother of Emanuel J. Carco and his wife, Catherine “Cookie,” of Malden, Josephine P. Fauci and husband, Leonard, Pauline L. LoVerme and her husband, John, all of Saugus, John R. Carco and his wife, Christine, of West Peabody, Linda A. Larkin and her husband, Ronald E., of Sandwich and is also lovingly survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Elizabeth Ferullo, Viola DiOrio, Anna Bozza, and Vincent d’Este.

Of New Hampshire, formerly of East Boston

Rose M. (Cavalieri) Kelleher of Meredith, NH, formerly of East Boston, died on December 21.

The beloved wife of the late Michael Kelleher, she was the loving mother of Michael Kelleher and his wife, Ann, of Revere, Richard Kelleher and his wife, Paula, of Wellesley, and Donna Oliver and her husband, Thomas, of Meredith, NH; cherished grandmother of Christa, Michelle, and Michael; great-grandmother of Carah, Cate, Caleb, Lucas, and Liam; dear sister of Josephine Bussey of Denver, Adeline Wamness of West Medford, and the late Ross and Frank Cavalieri.

Robert M. Condell of Wilmington died suddenly at his home on  December 22. He was 55 years old.

He was the beloved husband of Paulette (Pircio) Condell, devoted father of Michael A. Condell and Alex S. John Ciulla of East Boston died on December 22.

William F. “Billy” Celona of Melrose, formerly of East Boston, died on December 22.

He was an employee of Pine Banks Auto of Malden  and a past member of the East Boston Yacht Club.

He was the devoted father of Marie Celona of Salem and Caron and William Celona, both of East Boston; loving son of Rose (Marino) and the late Frank Celona of East Boston; dear brother of Frank Celona and his wife, Diana, of Hilton N.Y., Rosa Robinson and her husband, James, of Hingham, Joseph Celona and his wife, Dianne, of Wilmington, James Celona and his wife, Nancy, of Derry N.H. and Robert and his wife, Lois, of East Boston; adored grandfather of Alanna Marie and is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

She was the beloved partner of 24 years to Barbara A. Ottavio Serra of Revere, formerly of East Boston and the West End, died unexpectedly on Christmas Day.

He was a Revere School Crossing Guard at the corner of Broadway and Malden Street.

The beloved husband of the late Vincenza (Giacotto) Serra with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, he was the loving father of Maria Gregorio and her husband, Vincent, Sofia Forgione and her husband, Revere Auxiliary Police Captain Stephen and Lisa Gendreau and her husband, Roland, all of Revere; dear brother of Emanuella Stern and Carmelina Consolino of Italy, Domenico Serra and Elvin Marinelli, both of Revere, and the late Concetta Mochitto and Nicola Serra; cherished grandfather of Stephen and Felicia Forgione, Bianca and Stephanie Gregorio and Joseph and Sofia Gendreau.

Mary J. (Dalelio) Geraci of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died on December 20.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Geraci; devoted mother of Joanne Baroutas and her husband, Bob, of Stoneham, Anthony Geraci and his wife, Deb, of Swampscott, Grace Palmer and her late husband, Ken, and James Geraci, all of Winthrop; dear sister of the late John, Fiore and Phyllis Dalelio, Margaret Rigolizzo and Grace McCormick; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Anthony and Michael Palmer, Nicholas Baroutas, Wade and Wes Geraci and adored great grandmother of five. Edith Janielis

Jordan Marsh retiree

Edith L. (Cassaro) Janielis of Winthrop died December 20 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.  She was 79 years old.

She was the wife of Joseph P. Janielis, with whom she shared more than 56 years of marriage.  Born and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Santina (Cosentino) Cassaro.  She was a graduate of East Boston High School and has lived in Winthrop for the past 50 years.

She worked in data entry for Jordan Marsh for 26 years until her retirement in 1994.  She was extremely devoted to her family and especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children; Kevin J. Janielis and his wife, Joanne, of Wakefield, Joseph M. Janielis and his wife, Ann Marie, of Winthrop, and Debra L. Chancey and her husband, Fred, of Peabody; eight grandchildren; Emily, Michael, Brandon, Caitlin, Molly, Jonathan, Rachel and Pamela; three great-grandchildren; Dylan, Sophia and Audrey; four sisters; Lee Contardo of Wakefield, Mary “Sue” Mahoney of Hudson, MA, Julie Cassaro of Wakefield, and Gloria Morrison of Swampscott; her sister-in-law; Phyllis Cassaro of Wakefield; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Michael Cassaro and Adeline Allen.

Richard Oliver “Barp” Courtois  of Lynnfield, formerly of Revere and East Boston, died on December 26.

Since 1968, he has operated Richards Hair Cutting for Men, 2 Center Plaza, Boston and was a member of the Masons Shriners of Wilmington.

Born in East Boston, the son of the late Oscar and Lucille (DeNaro) Courtois, he was the beloved husband of Jean (Meoli); devoted father of Janine Goldthwait of Lynnfield and the late Richard Oliver Jr.; loving grandfather of Ashley and Richard Goldthwait; dear brother of John of Uxbridge and Charles of Revere and is also survived by many loving brothers and sisters in-law and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield today, Wednesday, December 29 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Salvatore Amoroso

Salvatore J. Amoroso of East Boston died on December 23.

He was the devoted father of Steven of Watertown; dear brother of the late Anthony, Michael, Ann,Benjamin and Joseph Jr.; cherished grandfather of Calebe and is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

A US Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, he was a Life Member of the DAV and a past member of the Mariners House, North Square, North End of Boston.

Everett William ‘Billy’ Ryan Jr. of Brockton died on December 23.

Rev. William Nolan

Religious

Rev. William J. Nolan of Lawrenceville, NJ died on December 18. He was 70 years old.

Father Nolan was born in East Boston, graduated from Don Bosco Seminary, Newton, NJ and completed his theological studies at the Salesian Seminary in Benedikat Buren, Germany and the Pontifical College Josephinium in Columbus, Ohio.  He was ordained on May  17, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio and was Incardinated in 1975.  He served the parishes of St. Joseph in Toms River, NJ, St. Thomas the Apostle in Old Bridge, NJ, St. Rose in Belmar, NJ and St. Mary in New Monmouth, NJ. He was the former Moderator of the Ocean County, NJ Holy Innocents Society and the Dean of the Southern Ocean County, NJ Deanery in 1993. Father  Nolan was the pastor of St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, Toms River, NJ from 1982 to 2006. He retired from active ministry in 2009.

Father Nolan was the beloved son of the late Anna Bishop Nolan and Aaron J. Nolan, Sr.; dear brother of the late Mary McArdle, the late Aaron Nolan, Jr. all of East Boston and the late Raymond Nolan of Winthrop.  He is survived by his brother Francis Nolan and his wife, Norma, of Brewster, Ma., and four sisters, Elizabeth McNabb of Florida., Ann McGrath and her husband, George, of Winthrop,   Helen Salsman and her husband, Richard, of Winthrop and is also survived by a sister-in-law Jean Nolan of Winthrop and many nieces and nephews.
