Irene Gordon of Lynn, formerly of East Boston, died on October 18.

She was the beloved mother of Michele Gordon and Frankie "Fatty" Casaletto, both of East Boston; cherished grandmother of Cynthia Cintron, Natalie Pabon, Maya Ortiz and Juel Prince, all of East Boston.

Of Billerica, formerly of East Boston

MaryAnn (Pacific) Spencer of Billerica, formerly of East Boston, died unexpectedly on October 17.

She was the beloved wife of Albert W. Spencer; mother of Karen Spencer and William Spencer of Billerica; grandmother of Darren Bemis of Billerica; daughter of Bernadette (Caron) (Pacific) Covalucci of Malden and the late Vasco Pacifici and step-daughter of the late Americo Covalucci.

Her Funeral will be held today, Wednesday, from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Of Malden, formerly of East Boston

Nora (Tranfaglia) Villano of Malden, formerly of East Boston, died on October 15.

She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Villano; loving mother of Alana Pedersen of Saugus and Marianne Tully and her husband, Terence, of Boxford; cherished Nana of Stacey and Timothy Heffernan, Kerri and Mark Connors, Brian and Elizabeth Tully, Eric Pedersen and Colleen Applegate, Nicholas and Kerry Tully, Gregory Tully and Alicia Fiers, and Steven Tully and great grandmother of Addison and Emory Heffernan.

John Neil Swenson Sr.

Lynnfield resident, formerly of East Boston

John Neil Swenson, Sr. of Lynnfield, formerly of Saugus and East Boston, died on October 15.

A US Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was the beloved husband of more than 53 years of Edith Anne (Landry) Swenson; devoted father of Elyce Marie Swenson of Amesbury and John Neil Swenson, Jr. of New Hampshire; dear brother of Peter J. Swenson and his wife, Dorothy, and Janet D’Amico and her husband, Charles "Max" D’Amico, all of Winthrop, and the late Gloria J. Perry and is also survived by his many cherished nieces and nephews.

Bruce Shulman

Died of injuries sustained in a helicopter crash

Bruce Shulman died October 13 from injuries sustained in a helicopter crash on September 19.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, sons David and Josh, brother Harvey, and parents Robert and Elayne.

He is remembered fondly as a devoted family man, aviator and dessert enthusiast who will forever live on in our hearts and minds as a truly warm, affectionate and gentle person who lived life to its fullest potential.

Frances ‘Cookie’ Pietrantonio

Florida resident, formerly of East Boston

Frances A. "Cookie" (Mucci) Pietrantonio of Dunedin, Florida, formerly of Woburn and East Boston, died on October 14.

The beloved wife of Charles Pietrantonio, she was the devoted mother of Richard Bernhardt and his wife, Colleen, of Austin, Texas, Daniel Bernhardt of Homer, Arkansas, and Michelle Pietrantonio of Waterbury, Connecticut; dear sister of Frank Mucci and his wife, Cindy, and Donna Marcou and her husband, David, all of Mashpee, Marie LeMoure and her husband, Joseph, of East Boston, and Lena Maggiore and her husband, John, of Saugus.

Patricia Muise

East Boston resident

Patricia E. Muise died unexpectedly in East Boston on October 13.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Eileen (Kelley) and John F. Muise; sister of Evelyn and Philip, both of East Boston, Marjorie of Burlington, VT, Robert of Brockton and the late Katharine Muise.

Louise Mackay

East Boston Social Center Secretary and Bookkeeper

Louise H. (D’Ambrosio) Mackay of East Boston died unexpectedly on October 12.

She was the wife of the late William M. Mackay; devoted mother of William M. Mackay Jr. and his wife, Lisa M., cherished grandmother of Joseph W. Mackay and dear sister of Lena D’Ambrosio, all of East Boston, and the late Concetta D. "Connie" Vitale. She is also lovingly survived by John Mackay and his wife, Jacqueline, of Revere, her brother in law, Henry F. Vitale of East Boston and her nephews, Henry F. Vitale Jr. and wife, JoAnne, of Jamaica Plain and John R. Vitale and his wife, Muna, of Brighton.

She served with the East Boston Social Center as secretary and bookkeeper for over 24 years, until her untimely death. Mark Hurley

Mark H. Hurley of Melrose, formerly of East Boston, died on October 7.

A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was the loving son of the late Sylvester and Blanche (Auclair) Hurley; dear brother of John of Florida, Maurice of East Boston, Francis of Revere, Patrick of New Hampshire, James of Maine and the late Thomas and is also survived by his many cherished nieces and nephews.

Chaplain of Doucette Post 4 USVVE

Daniel J. Russo of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on October 11.

A US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the Chaplain of the William J. Doucette Post 4 U.S.V.V.E.

The son of the late Louis and Angelina ( Debonis) Russo, he was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Scarfo) Russo; loving father of Daniel Russo of Revere, Kevin Russo and his wife, Veronica, of Florida and Derek Russo and his wife, Danielle, of East Boston; cherished grandfather of Deandra, Domenic, Dario and Dante Russo; dear brother of John Russo of California, Ronald Russo of Weymouth and the late Louie Russo.

Victoria Lee Bova of Revere, formerly of the North End of Boston, died on October 12. She was 50 years old.

A former MBTA employee, she was the devoted mother of Ventura Malave of Revere; loving daughter of Gilda (D’Iorio) and the late Joseph Bova of Revere; dear sister of Lucille Catricala of Revere, Joseph Bova of Holbrook and the late Anthony Bova and the former wife of Ventura Malave of Somerville. She was the cherished grandmother of Julianna and Jayla and is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews.

Diana Marchegiani of Endicott NY, formerly of Boston, died on October 9.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecelia’s Church of Boston and a John Hancock Insurance Co. employee.

She was the loving daughter of the late Remo Angelina Marchegiani; dear sister of Daniel Marchegiani and his wife, Sue, of California, Linda Haacker and her husband, Fred, of Endicott,NY and is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, great and grand nieces and nephews,

A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of her life was celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Boston by her cousin Father Joseph Clement. Burial was in St Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

 

Carmella Varone

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

Carmella Varone of Winthrop Street, Winthrop died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on October 10 after a brief illness. She was 83 years old.

Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Grace (Coco) and Anthony LaRosa. She lived in East Boston for many years before moving to Winthrop 43 years ago. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a clerk for the Mary Knoll Missionaries for many years. She was also a member of the Winthrop Catholic Women’s Club and a former member of the St. John the Evangelist Choir.

She was the beloved wife of the late Mario Varone and the loving mother of Diane Anderson and her husband, Jack, of West Mansfield, Anthony Varone and his wife, Mary, of Holliston, Paul Varone and his wife, Lorraine, and Cynthia Matstropoll and her husband, Nick, all of Winthrop; sister of Gloria Popp of New Hampshire and the late Rosemarie Socci. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Rose E. (Farina) Fuccillo of Medford died on October 10.

She was the beloved wife of Anthony J. Fuccillo of Medford; loving mother of Ray Fuccillo of Medford and his fiancé, Liz Grasso, of East Boston and Greg Fuccillo of Boston. She is also survived by many loving and cherished friends and family.

Rita M. (Holland) Luce, formerly of Charlestown, East Boston, Quincy and Worcester, died on October 10. She was 85 years old.

She was the mother of Daniel Luce and Frederick Luce, both of Florida, Laura Dundon of Abington and Patricia Smith of Worcester and is also survived by 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the McMaster Funeral Home, Braintree. Burial was at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Elisa (Garcia) Colon of Roslindale died on October 11. She was 78 years old.

Born February 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Albero Garcia and Margarita Roman, wife of the late Valeriano Colon, beloved mother of Luis Muniz and his wife, Joanne, of Dover, NH., Ruben Colon and wife, Francine, of Kennebunk, ME., Joanne Doren of Hyde Park, Patricia Colon of Revere, Elizabeth and husband, Bruce Collins, of Quincy, Christine Colon of Weymouth, Richard Colon and his wife, Rosario, of East Boston and the late Edward G. Colon; beloved grandmother of 19 and great grandmother of three; sister of Arturo, Ralph, Vidal, Asuncion, Rosa, and Belen.
