Michael Cataldo

In Loving Memory of Michael Cataldo January 11, 1966 – September 12, 2023.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael “Catman” Cataldo, who left us on September 12 at the age of 57.

Born on January 11, 1966 in East Boston, Michael was a beloved son, father, brother and friend, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of laughter and camaraderie. Michael grew up in East Boston and was the son of the late William and Loretta Cataldo. He is survived by his adoring daughters, Gina Ciampa and Catherine Cockrell, who were the lights of his life. Michael was also a loving brother to Diane Correnti and Mark Cataldo, both with whom he shared countless memories and experiences.

Professionally, Michael was a dedicated member of Local 6 Insulators Union, where he worked diligently and built lasting relationships with his colleagues. Outside of work, Michael was a proud and lifelong member of the East Boston Yacht Club and the Beachmont VFW. These organizations were more than just clubs to him; they were his extended family, and he relished the camaraderie and friendships he formed there.

Michael’s zest for life was contagious and he was known for being the life of the party. His passion for motorcycles and unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers were legendary, and he shared these interests with friends and family whenever he could. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he made every gathering brighter with his presence. 

Family and friends paid their respects and celebrated Michael’s life during visiting hours on Sunday, September 17 at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Michael’s memory to Boston’s Wounded Vet Run, 60 Paris St., East Boston, as he believed in giving back to his community and helping those in need. 

Michael Cataldo’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering love for family and friends. Rest in peace, Michael, and may your soul find eternal serenity.

Elaine Lombardi

Longtime Suffolk Superior Court Assistant Clerk

Elaine Lombardi, beloved daughter of the late Peter and Ruth (Larkin) Lombardi, passed away on September 13 at the age of 78. She was a cherished sister, aunt and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever be remembered. 

Elaine was born on September 8, 1945 in East Boston and spent her life enriching the lives of those around her. She is survived by her dear sister Ann Lopez and her husband, Jack, her late sister Ruth Picarello’s husband, Anthony and the memory of her late brothers, Peter and Joseph Lombardi. Elaine was a loving aunt to four nieces and one nephew and her presence brought joy to many great nieces and nephews, along with one great niece who held a special place in her heart. Her family was truly blessed to have her as an integral part of their lives. 

Professionally, Elaine was a dedicated and longtime assistant clerk at Suffolk Superior Court, where her commitment to her work was evident to all who knew her. Her attention to detail and unwavering work ethic left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the legal community. 

Outside of work, Elaine was a vivacious spirit who adored travel, spending quality time with friends and family and embarking on exciting adventures. Her trips to the casino with her beloved Foxwoods group were a source of excitement and camaraderie and her enthusiasm was infectious. Elaine’s role as an aunt held a special place in her heart, and she took immense pride in being there for her nieces and nephew, offering guidance, love and support. Her nurturing nature and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Services to celebrate Elaine’s life were held on Monday, September 18 at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston. Elaine was laid to rest alongside her beloved brothers in the Belle Island section of Winthrop Cemetery. 

Elaine Lombardi’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity, and loving spirit will continue to inspire us all.

Brigid Timony

Retired Bank Administrator

Brigid V. (McCrory) Timony of Wareham, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh J. Timony Sr., and the mother of the late Eileen Clark.

Born on April 6, 1928 in Cookstown, Northern Ireland, the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (Monaghan) McCrory, Brigid was an administrator at Boston Five Bank in Boston for many years before retiring. During her free time, she enjoyed watching cooking shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She also enjoyed watching football, golf, soccer and the World Cup. In her spare time, she loved to cook, bake and travel. What she loved most was to keep in touch with her family all around the world.

She is survived by her loving children: Maria Timony and her husband, Mark Tabb of Bellingham and Margaret McCrory of Cookstown, Ireland, Hugh J. Timony Jr. and David Timony, both of East Boston and her son-in-law, Paul Clark, of Wareham. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Susan McCrory, Angela McCrory, Eamon McCrory, James McCrory, Briege McCrory, Matthew Timony, Nicholas Timony, Kevin Clark and Eoin Clark and cherished great-grandchildren: Daire McCrory, Katie McCrory, Paige McCrory, Niamh McCrory, Tomas McCrory, Sean McCrory and Lochlann McCrory. She was the devoted sister of the late: Mary Fegan, Josephine McAleer, Claire Mancini, Matthew McRory and Patsy McRory.

Lillian Laurano

She Leaves a Legacy of Love, Dedication and Cherished Memories

Lillian Laurano, born on November 28, 1941 to Emilio and Florence (Moody) Laurano, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Lillian is survived by her loving children: Mark Giglio and his wife, Merly of Florida, Pamela Giglio and Nicole Giglio, along with the memory of her late children, Michael and Michelle Giglio. She was a source of unwavering support and love for her family throughout her life. In addition to her children, Lillian was a caring sister to the late Robert Laurano and Barbara Couzzo. She was also an aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. Her presence in their lives brought joy, laughter and a sense of unity that will be remembered fondly. Lillian was a proud grandmother to Mark, Michael, Matthew, Courtney and Gianna, and a great-grandmother to Luca, Jacob, Giorgio and Giuliana.

She cherished her role as a matriarch and took immense pride in the achievements and milestones of her family. Her wisdom, warmth and kindness will continue to guide and inspire her descendants.

Throughout her life, Lillian dedicated herself to her work. She was a longtime employee of the City of Boston and the Department of Revenue, where her commitment and dedication left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served.

Family and friends will honor Lillian’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home North Shore Chapel in Peabody on Thursday. September 21st from 4 to 8 p.m.

Lillian Laurano’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to live on through the lives of her family. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.

Josephine Toscano

She Will Be Sorely Missed by Her Good Friends at the Prospect House in Revere

Josephine “Josie” (Mercurio) Toscano of Revere, formerly of Saugus and East Boston, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 14.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph Toscano, she was the loving aunt of Cecelia Duggan of Saugus, James F. Samms of Lynn and the late Robert J. Samms, Cecelia Serio and Elizabeth Gidare; dear sister of the late Catherine “Kay” Samms, Marian Grande, Ralph, William, Salvatore and Frank Mercurio and stepmother to Barbara (Toscano) Luisi of Reading and the late Patty Toscano of Lynn. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Josie will be sorely missed by her good friends at the Prospect House in Revere.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 19th in Blessed Sacrament Church, Saugus followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
