Zumix and Sen. Edwards Present the East Boston Latin Music Festival
On Saturday, September 10, 2022, ZUMIX and Sen. Lydia Edwards’ office will present The East Boston Latin Music Festival: “Sonidos de la Gente” for free in Bremen Street Park in East Boston from 1 – 6:30PM.
The festival will consist of two stages, one presenting local live music acts and one presenting local dance ensembles. Bands will include Zayra Pola, Sonn de mi Tierra, Veronica Robles’ Mariachi Band, and Marcus Santos’ Grooversity. Dancers will include Salsa y Control, Samba Viva, and more.
This event is meant to be a joyous coming together of community after a challenging and isolating few years. This is a family-friendly event happening adjacent to a playground, splash pad and the MBTA Airport Station on the Blue Line. Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation.

El sábado 10 de septiembre de 2022, ZUMIX y la oficina de la Senadora Lydia Edwards presentarán el Festival de Música Latina de East Boston: “Sonidos de la Gente” gratis en Bremen Street Park en East Boston de 1 a 6: 30 p.m.
El festival consistirá de dos escenarios, uno que presentará actos de música local en vivo y otra que presentará conjuntos de danza locales. Las bandas incluirán a Zayra Pola, Sonn de mi Tierra, Veronica Robles’ Mariachi Band y Marcus Santos’ Grooversity. Los bailarines incluirán Salsa y Control, Samba Viva y más.
Este evento está destinado a ser un encuentro alegre de la comunidad después de unos años desafiantes y aislados. Este es un evento familiar que se lleva a cabo junto a un parque infantil, un área de recreación con fuentes de agua y la estación del aeropuerto MBTA en la Línea Azul. EBCCS Awarded $170,000 Grant
East Boston Central Catholic School (EBCCS) has been awarded a Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) Elementary School Grant of over $170,000 for the 2022-2023 school year as part of the Building Minds Scholarship Fund. The scholarship grant is intended to support 65 existing students and recruit approximately 25-30 new students to EBCCS.
This grant is part of a $7.3 million dollar effort by the Catholic Schools Foundation to support Catholic elementary school students in the Archdiocese of Boston. Eligible students in kindergarten to eighth grade are guaranteed their scholarship each year that they are enrolled in their Catholic grade school provided they meet eligibility requirements. Scholarships are awarded regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
Additionally, this grant will also fund Peter Lynch Scholars at EBCCS. A Peter Lynch Scholar is a student who has excellent academic achievements and work ethic, cares for others in the school community, has had his/her life impacted significantly by a Catholic education.
CSF is the premier institution for granting aid to financially in-need students to attend Catholic elementary and high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. On an annual basis CSF distributes more than 3,900 scholarships awarded with over $10.6M awarded a year.
