Harbor View Neighborhood Association Meeting

The next meeting of the Harbor View Neighborhood Association will be on November 6, at 6 p.m. The meeting is In Person only but will be streamed via Facebook for archival purposes. Attendance on Facebook does not qualify for voting. The meeting will be held in the Salesian Boys and Girls Club cafeteria, across from the Brooke Charter School on Byron Street. You can access the meeting from the front door on Byron Street or from the rear door on Wordsworth Street, which is the handicap entry, to avoid the stairs. Since we are indoors, masks are optional for those in attendance.

Llega a la cafeteria del Salesian Boys y Girls Club por la calle Byron al otro lado de Brooke Charter School. Pueda usar la entrada pricipal por la calle Byron o la entrada en calle de Wordsworth. La entrada de calle Wordsworth no tienne escaleras por personas con discapacidades. El cubre bocas sera opcional puesto que estaremos adentro.

• Halloween House Decorating Contest (10min) The top three winners of the contest will be announced and presented their prize.

• 58 Wordsworth Street (30min) 2nd Presentation and VOTE, by Attorney and owner Jeff Drago. The proposal is to change the occupancy from a two-family to a three- family. Erect rear and third-story additions and rear decks. Renovate existing building.

• 41 Wordsworth Street (20min) 1st Presentation by Attorney Jeff Drago for owner Sharon Menninger, Stage LLC. Proposal to amend plans to add roof deck to existing structure and add egress stairs. (amending ALT1277234).

• Holiday Party (5min) HVNA will be having our annual potluck holiday party at the East Boston Yacht Club on Thursday, December 14, 2023, 6pm-8:30pm. Please save the date.

• 531 Bennington Street (30min) 1st Presentation by Attorney Richard Lynds for owner Sokol Enterprises, LLC. The proposal is to raze the existing 3 decker and erect a 5-unit residential dwelling.

• Stop Sign request (10min) Neighbors on Horace and Moore Street are asking to have a stop sign installed at the corner of Moore Street and Horace Street for safety reasons. Discussion and next steps in the process.

November Service Changes AT THE MBTA

MBTA officials  announced service changes in November on the Red, Orange, and Haverhill lines. The MBTA will continue working to improve service reliability across the system. Additional service changes may take place in November and will be announced when details are finalized.

On the Red Line:

• Accessible shuttle bus service will replace Red Line trains between Alewife and Kendall/MIT Stations during the weekend of November 4-5. This service change allows crews to perform rail welding and track work in order to alleviate speed restrictions.

• Accessible shuttle bus service will replace Red Line trains between JFK/UMass and Park Street Stations beginning at approximately 8:45 PM through the end of service Tuesday through Thursday on November 14-16 as well as during the weekend of November 18-19. This service change allows crews to perform track work between Broadway and South Station in order to alleviate speed restrictions.

On the Orange Line:

• Accessible shuttle bus service will replace Orange Line trains between Oak Grove and Wellington Stations from the start of service until approximately 2 PM on Sunday, November 5. This service change is taking place to accommodate an emergency response learning exercise taking place near Malden Center. The exercise is an opportunity for public safety officials to exercise emergency response plans, policies, and procedures.

• Accessible shuttle bus service will replace Orange Line trains between Oak Grove and North Station beginning at approximately 8:45 PM through the end of service Tuesday through Friday on November 7- 10 as well as during the weekend of November 11-12. This service change allows MBTA crews to perform critical work at the Oak Grove crossover track area as well as in and around the tracks at Sullivan Square and Community College Stations.
