East Boston’s Ward 1 Democratic Committee Announces Networking Event

The Ward 1 Democratic Committee in East Boston is hosting a networking social event on Tuesday, October 24th at Angela’s Cafe in Orient Heights from 6 to 7:30PM. The event is free, and appetizers will be included, the bar will be open for people to purchase beverages. All are invited and the restaurant will remain open.

Committee chair Brian Gannon states “We see this as a fun way to bring people together, but also a great way to let people know that there are many ways to get involved, even in off presidential election years.” One of the event organizers, Margaret Farmer, added “connecting to one another is a great way to help stay informed about what is going on, and can help ensure you know who to call when you want to be involved with an issue”. She went on “We hope this will be the first in a series of events, designed to bring the community together. There are so many active issues, at every level of government, it is important to know other community activists”.

All are welcome at this event, including elected officials and candidates. To learn more about committee activities, please check the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ward1dems/.

The goal of the Ward 1 Committee is to build a strong, open, and inclusive Democratic Committee in East Boston. At the event, they envision fostering a rich discussion around issues most important to East Boston residents, and will brainstorm ways to amplify the voices of local residents’ input on city, state, and federal policy.
