Salesian Boys & Girls Club 13th Annual Summer Camp Scholarship Fundraiser Set for June 16

Building on the success of their first outdoor annual fundraiser, the Salesian Boys & Girls Club is bringing back the outdoor event for a second year in a row.

After the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic the Salesian Boys & Girls Club staff and administrators gave hosting an outdoor event a whirl in 2021 and received tremendous feedback.

“We will be hosting our 13th Annual Summer Camp Scholarship/Auction Fundraiser,  a “Celebration of Community,” on June 16, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. outside at the Club under our tented venue,” said Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Michael Triant. “We will come together to enjoy a fun, safe evening with good friends, great auction prizes, delicious food, and drinks while raising money for scholarships for our Summer Camp and After School  Programs.”

Traint said this year’s Don Bosco Award recipient will be former Boys & Girls Club Program Director Nicole McCormack. Rep, Adrian Madaro will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer.

“This is our largest fundraising event of the year, and we genuinely appreciate the community’s support,” said Triant. “The Salesian Boys & Girls Club has been serving youth ages 6 to 18 from the communities of East Boston, Revere, Chelsea, and Winthrop for over 75 years. The Club provides a safe, positive, fun learning environment for children of all ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, and religious beliefs.”

Money raised at the event will directly support the Club’s Summer Camp Scholarship fund.

“Our Summer Day Camp has been a family tradition for over 60 years,” said Triant. “We provide  over 200 inner-city kids ages 6 to 14 with a great summer experience. Campers participate in weekly field trips and a variety of activities and programs inside and  outside the Club and at our neighboring field. We believe that no youth should  be denied because of financial reasons.”

Triant said the Club hopes to raise $40,000 towards scholarships for its summer program at this event.

“To meet this goal, we are asking for the community’s help,” said Triant. “We hope you will join us at this year’s event or make a donation. No matter how large or small, a contribution from local businesses and individuals will help sustain our current After School Program and Summer Day Camp, keeping them affordable for families. We appreciate all of our supporters that will help us reach our goal to provide underprivileged children in our communities the opportunity to enjoy these programs.” Event tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online at www.SalesianClub.com and Facebook/salesianclub by June 3, 2022.
