NSMHA Summer Sail Set for June 28

North Suffolk Mental Health Association (NSMHA) will be hosting a Summer Sail on Thursday, June 28, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Piers Park Sailing Center to benefit NSMHA’s recovery programs throughout Greater Boston, and raise awareness about the agency’s impact in the community.

“It’s a wonderful organization. We really are dedicated to our mission of helping people become independent,” said Margaret Farmer, NSMHA Director of Development. “I’m thrilled to work here.”

The celebration features live music, hors d’oeuvres, raffles, and a silent auction. Friends will also be invited on relaxing sailboat rides in Boston Harbor, an activity that Farmer hopes will encourages self-care and reduce stress.

“We’re huge fans,” boasted Farmer about the Sailing Center. “We like to have a fun, summer event, and having sunset cruises will be a great time.”

North Suffolk provides programs to over 10,000 people a year. The organization began 59 years ago as a children’s service center, and continues to add services to fit the communities’ needs, such as substance abuse programs and early childhood intervention.

“One in four Americans has a mental illness. The opioid crisis is ravaging our community,” explained Farmer, an East Boston resident. “We’re the people you come to when dealing with those issues.”

“I think the highlight of the evening is the chance for the community to come together and celebrate North Suffolk,” said Farmer. “We are here for you.”
