Anthony Albano was a special person, a wonderful man who touched so many lives in a positive way. There was a tremendous outpouring of affection for Anthony Albano this week as the people from East Boston joined with others across the city to recognize all the contributions he had made to our community and beyond.
If you had Anthony Albano in your corner, you had a loyal friend for life. He was a mentor to students at East Boston High School, a school he loved and whose athletic teams he supported so well. East Boston coaches such as Mike Rubin, John Souza, Dave Arinella, John Parziale and current high school principal and former baseball coach Phil Brangiforte welcomed Albano warmly into their programs and they appreciated his support.
Anthony Albano was well known and respected as a superb political organizer. Anthony was a close personal friend of former Mayor Thomas Menino, who said this week, “Anthony was one of those special individuals that dedicated himself to all things East Boston.”
We have a lost a giant and an irreplaceable force in the East Boston community. Anthony Albano was a beloved East Boston resident whose memory and contributions will live on forever.
