Robert LaVertue

Of East Boston

Robert A. LaVertue of East Boston died on May 11. He was 67 years old.

The beloved son of the late George and Lorraine (Laramie) LaVertue, he was the dear brother of  Annette Dagostino of East Boston, Ronald LaVertue of Winthrop, Linda Lockhart  and Rita Buono, both of East Boston and the late George LaVertue and is also survived by many loving neices and nephews.

Visiting Hours in the Serenity Chapel of the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., East Boston will be held on Monday, May 20 from 3 to 7 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The Funeral Home is handicap accessible, courtesy valet parking, ample off street parking, Childrens Room available. Barbara Gaffney

Of Florida, formerly of Revere

Barbara E. (Roberts) Gaffney, a Revere resident for more than 55 years until moving to Largo, Florida 15 years ago, died on April 28 in the Consulate Nursing Facility of Seminole, Florida, following a long illness. She was 81 years old.

Born in Boston and raised in Revere, she attended Revere Schools and was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1950. She married John H. Gaffney in 1955 and the couple moved to Largo, Florida in 1998.

A devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a recent great grandmother, she was the devoted mother of William J. Gaffney and his wife, Jamie of Atkinson, NH and Robert A. Gaffney and his wife, Brandie of Seabrook, NH; the dear sister of Phyllis Going and her husband, Warren  of Ossippe, NH, Jean DeMarco and her late husband, Anthony, Grace Fabiano and her husband, George, all of Revere; cherished grandmother of Annemarie Stucker and her husband, Brian of Epping, NH, Patrick W. Gaffney of Brighton, Elyse M. and Evan R. Gaffney, both of Seabrook, NH and is also lovingly survived by her great grandson, William B. Stucker as well as by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Revere. Burial was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody. Kathleen Morani

Of East Boston

Kathleen J. (Duggan) Morani of East Boston died on May 9.

She was the beloved wife of 47 years of Robert J. Morani; mother of Michele Morani and her companion, Dave O’Connell of Quincy, Lisa and her husband, Michael Antrim and Charlene and her husband, Michael Goodwin, all of East Boston; sister of Judy and her husband, Ronald Lyons of East Boston and Eleanor Mooney of Stoneham; grandmother of Stephanie, Kristin, Courtney, Bobby, Michael Jr, Emily and Dennis and great-grandmother of Madison, Jessica, Matthew, Jayce and Hannah.

Her funeral was held from the Magrath Funeral Home, East Boston. Burial was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the VNA Hospice Care or Salesian Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated.

Phyllis Lanieri

Of East Boston

Phyllis (Siraco) Lanieri of East Boston passed away on April 27. She was 96 years old.

The beloved wife of the late Dr. Carl Lanieri, she was the devoted mother of Lucille Monuteaux of East Boston, and the late Annette Riccio; dear sister of Vincenza DeFeo of Tewksbury and the late Domenic, Anthony, Joseph, and Mary Siraco; the cherished grandmother of Larry and Michael Monuteaux and the adored great grandmother of five great grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, services were private. Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

May she rest in eternal peace.

Patricia Howard

Of Revere

Patricia (Flores) Howard of Revere, formerly of Rockland and East Boston, died on May 6.

She was the loving mother of Anthony Howard of Revere and the late Michael Howard; cherished daughter of the late Frank and Mafalda (Arpino) Flores; dear sister of Frank of E. Bridgewater, John of Plymouth and Ann Flores of Nevada; adored grandmother of Dominic of Lynn and is also survived by her aunts, Adeline Arpino and Susan Olson, both of Revere.

Joseph Ruggiero

Of Winthrop

Joseph of Winthrop on May 13 after courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Geraldine (Iovanna). Loving son of Vincenzina “Vinnie (Cannata) and the late John Ruggiero of Winthrop. Devoted father of Vanessa Ruggiero of Saugus, Joseph Ruggiero Jr. and his wife Tracy of Woburn and Daniel Wise and his wife Emily of Wakefield. Dear brother of Frances Spinazzola and her companion Robert Patrie and Janet Macrina and her husband Lenny all of Winthrop. Also survived by many loving neices and nephews. Funeral from the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home 971 Saratoga St. East Boston on Saturday May 18 at 10;30 with a mass of celebration of Joseph’s life at St JohnsThe  Evangelist Church Wintrop at 11:30.
