With two games left to go in the season, the East Boston High School junior varsity baseball team had a big win against English Monday night at Noyes Park.
Eastie pitcher Nikki Lepore threw a complete game shutout during the Jets 16-0 win over English to improve to 6-4 on the season.
The Jets had some help offensively with hot bats from Joe Lawrence, Mike Lockhead and Geraldo Puente.
Puente had two hit, a double and single and scored 3 RBIs while Lawrence hit a triple and double and knocked in 2 runs. Lawrence also took one for the team after taking a fastball to the ankle during the 4th inning. After limping around he continued playing.
Lockhead had two doubles in the game and 4 RBI’s and made some big plays in centerfield behind Lepore to preserve his complete shutout.
“English is usually one of tougher schools we play during the season,” said Assistant Junior Varsity Coach Charlie LoGrasso. “We didn’t expect to win that big but I think their pitching just wasn’t there Monday.”
