It was a fantastic night of hockey in week 8 of the EBMHL. Not only did the Comets break through for their first win, but the league leading Urban Sun Tanning was shot down and brought back to earth. Game one saw Yellow Taxi take on Sound Decision.
The score of this game is no indication of the play of Sound Decision. Yellow Taxi goalie Mario Long was up to the task in this one as he turned away shot after shot in the 7-3 win.
Jim Leger was on fire scoring 6 goals, while the leading scorer in the EBMHL Paul Monzione buried the loner and also had 4 assists on the evening. Doing the scoring for Sound Decision was Chris Connoly who had a pair and Dominic DiMarzo with the single tally. Game 2 proved to be the game of the week as an action packed Porazzo Rink witnessed the Comets finally break through and defeat Bill Ashes for their first win of the seaon.
An outstanding hockey game was played by all players on the ice in this one as the Comets and Bill Ashes went back and forth for 3 periods, with the Comets coming out on top 7-4.
Goalie Sean Robson played outstanding turning away many tough shots from the Bill Ashes offense. He has Brian hayes, Vinny Schettino, and Eric Thomaspol as each one of these guys had a pair of goals to help lead the scoring attack. Jared Melillo had the single tally for the Comets.
Bill Ashes goals were scored by Mark Mansfield, who had 2, and Darrell Interbartolo and David Chiaradonna each with 1. Game 3 was nothing short of spectacular as the boys from the East Boston Yacht Club took out league front-runner Urban Sun Tanning 6-3. Golatender Chris Grossmann was up to the task in this one as he was able to shut down the leagues best offensive attack.
EBYC forward Dave Collins got on the scoresheet 4 separate occasions with Charlie Daniels and Kris Sullivan providing single goals. Jeff Delpidio had a pair for UST while Jay Duca buried the loner. The EBMHL is now in full swing, and if you have yet to get to Porazzo for a game we urge you come down and support these guys every Tuesday evening throughout the season.
