Born in Winthrop, the son of Carol (Wells) and Robert DePalma, he was formerly employed as a maintenance supervisor at the Columbus Nursing Home.

Theresa R. (Conti) Salvo of Maine, formerly of East Boston, died on July 11. She was in her 98th year.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Salvo with whom she shared 27 years of marriage; loving mother of Joseph Salvo DMD and his wife, Beth, of Colorado, Anthony Salvo MD and his wife, Mary, of Maine and the late Dolores Salvo; dear sister of the late Sadie, Rose and Dorothy Conti, Helen Hillen, Gloria Mangino and Mary Lauria; cherished grandmother of Janet Salvo, Karen Bubar and the late John Salvo and great grandmother of Corey and Kelsey Bubar.

Pasquale ‘Pat’ Luongo
Helped develop Hubble Telescope
Pasquale A. "Pat" Luongo of Medford, formerly of East Boston, died on July 11. He was 82 years old.
A US Navy veteran, Mr. Luongo received a letter of thanks for his fortitude, resourcefulness and leadership signed by President Harry S. Truman. He worked as a machinist at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown and as a Research and Development Machinist for the Department of the Army in Watertown. He received a Recommendation for Outstanding Service from the Office of the Project Manager for Nuclear Munitions for his work in Europe. After he retired from government service, he went to work at Harvard University where he was on a team that developed the materials for the Hubble Telescope. A professional candlepin bowler, he love to hunt, fish and play bingo and enjoyed watching football, baseball and hockey.
He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Bernardinelli) Luongo with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; loving father of Charles Luongo of Bradford and Camille Strupa and her husband, Salvatore, of Medford; dear brother of Margaret Lopilato of Winthrop; cherished grandfather of Christopher, Jade and Tiffany Luongo, Danielle Devlin, Michael, Amy and Brianna Struppa and great grandfather of Nancy May Devlin. He was the brother in law of Robert Bernardinelli and his wife, Roseann, and Rosemarie Forte.

Richard Damien Hogan Jr. died suddenly at home on July 6. He was 40 years old.
Born in Everett, he graduated from Our Lady of Grace Grammar School and Newman Prep in Boston. He was also a graduate of The Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. He worked as an operating technician at Hudson General Aviation.
At one time, he did the Crossroads Walk across America for saving the unborn walking from California to Washington D.C. He also enjoyed traveling abroad and he was an avid reader.
He was the beloved son of Richard D. and Christina (Stack) Hogan and the brother of Atty. Julia Hogan Drozdick and her husband, Michael, of Milton, Katherine Hogan and her husband, Stephen, of South Boston; the uncle of Katherine, Daniel, Brianna, Stephanie, and Max and the grandson of the late Atty. Joseph C. and Julia A. Hogan and Michael and Mary Stack; the devoted nephew of Atty. Frances X. Hogan of Everett, Dr. Joseph C. Hogan of Belmont, Margaret Walsh of Everett, Jacinta Leyne of Lexington, Sean, Martin, James, Stephen, Delia, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary, and Eileen, all of Ireland.

Daniel Aragona of Wakefield, formerly of Malden, died on July 10 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers. He was 82 years old.
A faithful member of the Eagle Heights Assembly of God Church, Chelsea serving in many capacities for over 64 years, he was a retired member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard proudly serving for 35 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer.
He was the beloved husband of Evelyn E. (Rizzo); dear and devoted father of Deborah A. Sensale and her husband, Louis and David W. Aragona and his wife, Patricia of Malden; brother of Anthony Aragona of Maryland, Frank Aragona of Arizona, Josephine Fantuccio of Quincy and the late Rose O’Brien; loving grandfather of Danielle and Samantha Aragona and Louis Sensale.

Vernon B. Mayo of Everett, formerly of Deer River, MN, died on July 7 following a long illness.
He was a Mass. Turnpike Authority retiree and a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era.
He was the beloved husband of 23 years of C. Diana (Albano); devoted father of Leanne Anderson of Lewiston, ME, Thomas J. Mayo of Waterboro, ME, Rhonda L. Vidaurie of Revere and Catherine M. Sutton of Sabattus, ME; dear brother of Donald, Richard and Thomas Mayo, Evelyn Lee, Carol Thompson, Catherine Parks, Viola Thompson, all of Minnesota, and the late James and William Mayo; cherished uncle to Ashley Speer of Everett, Anthony Albano of Lynn, Robert Albano of Stoneham, Brooke Armstrong of Sandown, NH and Karen Osman of Melrose. Andrew ‘Junior’ Brancato

Andrew R. "Junior" Brancato of West Peabody died on July 9 with his family by his side. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Brancato was born September 3, 1932 in Chelsea to Andrew and Angelina Brancato. He grew up in Chelsea and served in the US Air Force, stationed in Germany. He opened his first beauty shop, Brancato’s Beauty Supplies in Chelsea in 1961. He was an entrepreneur who knew how to create a successful business. For example, in 1974 he opened Andy Panda Ice Cream of East Boston.
In 1964 he married his wife, Ronnie, and moved to Peabody where she still resides. He loved his family, traveling and work. He also enjoyed sharing his life stories with everyone he met. He always told a good story and was a generous man. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
He was the beloved husband for 45 years of Ronnie (Joyce); loving father of Andrew and his wife, Quenia, and their children Andrew, Joey and Rebekah; Andrea Brancato-Walke and her husband, Alan, and their sons Mathew and Michael, and Karla Brancato and her daughter, Santina; beloved brother of Nettie and Mary and the late Minnie, Gracie, Josie, Janice, Connie and Angie.

Mafalda "Rose" (Carrillo) Rizzo of Chelsea, formerly of Malden, died on July 5 after a short illness. She was 83 years old.
The wife of the late Dominic J. Rizzo who died in 1988, she was born on June 15, 1927 in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Achille and Maria Romano Carrillo. She was educated in Chelsea and was a former resident of Malden.
A housewife and loving mother, she enjoyed spending time with her famiy, listening to Italian music and watching Lawrence Welk and American Idol on TV. She was a longtime member of the Revere Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph Rizzo of Revere and Paul Rizzo of Malden and her daughters, Lois Hussey of Everett and Gloria Power of Chelsea; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ermani, Joseph, Salvatore, Dante, Alba, Norma and Helen and stepsister to Mario, James, Clara and Dora.

Reynold A. Vitale of Revere died on July 1. He was 66 years old.
Born, raised and a life long resident of Revere, he was a 1961 graduate of Revere High School. He trained in the printing business at the Boston Herald and later opened his own business, "Reynold A. Vitale Complete Printing Services of Revere" which he ran for more than 20 years. He was also a member and officer of the Revere Auxiliary Police and a former member of the Franklin Typographical Society.
The son of the late Henry L. and Louise M. (Zolla) Vitale, he was the devoted father of Glenn E. of Malden and Eric J. Vitale and his wife, Deborah, of Londonderry, NH; cherished grandfather of Theodore J. and Emily "Kate" Vitale, Michael G. and Kevin J. Pementel, all of Londonderry, NH; dear brother of Annette M. Thompson and her husband, Bernard, of Cape Coral, FL, Henry F. Vitale and his late wife, Connie, of East Boston, Russell E. Vitale and his companion, Beverly Rogers, and Elaine L. Bougiouris and her husband, Kyriacos E., all of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his former wife, Linda A. (Killion) Vitale and his former mother-in-law, Helen Killion, both of Malden, and his dear friend, Robin Reed, of Everett and by several nieces and nephews.
