Alberto Carrion

New Bedford resident

Alberto Carrion of New Bedford, formerly of Mission Hill, died on April 23.

He was the beloved father of Minerva "Minnie" Carrion of Revere and Kenneth "ABJ" Carrion of East Boston; cherished grandfather of Reinaldo Diaz, Makayla Roche, Makenzy Carrion and Junyanie Roche.

John Cornetta

Of Wakefield, formerly of East Boston

John C. Cornetta of Wakefield died on April 24.

Raised in East Boston, he was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and Boston State College. He worked for many years in the high tech field and was self employed as a consultant in the field at the time of his death. He has been a Wakefield resident for the past 30 years.

He was the husband of Dorothea C. (MacLeod); father of Leslie Ann Jennings and Robert J. Cornetta of Wakefield; son of Josephine (Fagone) Cornetta and the late Angelo Cornetta and is also survived by many cousins.

His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, at 10. Constance ‘Connie’ Ballerene

Former owner of Bayberry Antiques of Cape Cod

Constance "Connie" (Mantica) Ballerene of Lynn, formerly of Orient Heights, East Boston, Centerville and Newton, died on April 24. She was 93 years old.

The former proprietor and operator of Bayberry Antiques of Cape Cod, she was the wife of the late Louis F.; beloved sister of Grace Lennon of Walpole and the late Ann Dagle, Mary Amicangioli, Leo, Augostino, Domenic and Robert Mantica and is also lovingly survived by her sister in law, Claire Mantica of Woburn and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Revere. Burial was at Mosswood Cemetery, Barnstable. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hosptial, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis TN 38105

 

Louise Taromino

Of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston

Louise B. Taromino of Chelsea, formerly of East Boston, died on April 24.

She was the devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Volta) Taromino-Ferraro; beloved sister of Anthony J. and his wife, Rosemary (Barrett) Taromino, of Virginia and is also survived by many dear friends and cousins.

She unselfishly devoted herself to her mothers’ care for several years, before her passing in 2005.

Thomas Slowe Jr.

Boston DPW Supervisor

Thomas J. Slowe Jr. of Salem, NH, formerly of East Boston, died on April 23, joining his wife of 41 years who died on April 9. He was 67 years old.

Born in Boston on May 16, 1942, son of the late Thomas J. Slowe Sr. and the beloved Mary T. (Feeney) Slowe, he was a resident of Salem for 10 years, formerly living in East Boston, but originally from Dorchester. Mr. Slowe was a supervisor in the Public Works Dept. in Boston. He was a kind hearted, caring and gentle man who took enormous pride in the success and achievements of his children and grandchildren. He was inseparable from his loving wife and was an unforgettable presence in everyone’s lives and will remain so forever.

He was the beloved father of Thomas M. Slowe and his wife, Maria, of Salem, NH, Sharon Slowe and Kimberley Robinson and her husband, Wayne, all of Derry, grandfather of six, Jonathan Slowe, Tyler Robinson, Kailee Robinson, Jordan Robinson, Bridget Slowe and Adrianna Robinson; brother of Marylou Barry of Quincy. He also leaves his loving dog, Kelly, and many life long friends. He was the husband of the late Catherine E. Slowe and the brother of the late Claire Kaczka and John Slowe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry, NH. Delbert ‘Jake’ Chodrick

Delbert G. "Jake" Chodrick of Chelsea died on April 21.

A US Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era, he was the beloved husband of Millie M. (Howell) Chodrick of Chelsea; devoted father of Shawnda Pugliese and her husband, Charles, of East Boston, Charisse Haskins, Candice Vincente and her husband, Jason, Chelsea Police Officer Dustin Chodrick and Dale Chodrick, all of Chelsea; dear brother of Barbara Clinkerbeard of Kansas, Glenda, George and Ray Chodrick, all of Oklahoma; cherished grandfather of Brandi, Amber and Charley Pugliese, Trinity and Samantha Coltey and Cheyenne Haskins. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Helen Marie Duncan

Helen Marie (Costigan) Duncan of Salem, formerly of East Boston, died on April 22. She was 81 years old.

She was born and raised in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1948.

She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (O’Brien) Costigan; loving mother of Michael Babin and his wife, Lisa Masella, of Salem, Joanne Gallant and her husband, Terrence, of Hill, NH; sister of Edward Costigan of Chelsea, William Costigan of Wells, Maine, and by Mary Coombs of Wilmington. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Laura, Nicole, Heather, Michael, Sean, and Kaitlyn, three great grandchildren, Amanda, Dagan, and Mackenzie, and by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Kevin Duncan and sister of the late John and George Costigan.

Vincentina "Tina" (Loverro) Nalli of Canton, formerly of Peabody and East Boston, died on April 20.

She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Nalli; devoted daughter of the late John and Mary Jane (Lombardi) Loverro; loving mother of Anthony Nalli, Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Canton and the late Robert Nalli; dear sister of John Loverro, Jr. of Canton and the late Philomena "Phyllis" Fiore and Theresa Vitelli; cherished grandmother of Michelle, Melissa and Melanie Nalli. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Angelina Ferrera

Of Lynn, formerly of East Boston

Angelina Ferrera of Lynn, formerly of East Boston, died on April 17. She was 87 years old.

She was the mother of Stephen Johns, Richard Johns of Amesbury, Deborah Jones of Florida, and Linda Wagner-Tzannos and her husband, Gregory, of Winthrop; the partner of Tom Finnegan of Lynn and a grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was the sister of the late Doctors Charles and Patrick Ferrera.

Mary Theresa (Ducey) Davis of North Weymouth, formerly of East Boston, died on April 18. She was 65 years old.

She was the beloved wife of 45 years of Charles Gerard "Jerry" Davis; loving and devoted mother of Renee M. Egan married to Vernon of Scituate, Michelle J. Wolf of Sandwich, Charlene D. Joyce married to Billy of Hingham and Jessica D. Huettner married to Kirk of LaQuinta, CA; loving sister of Joan Guidaboni and Loretta Long, both of New Hampshire, Gail Ducey of Revere and the late Barbara Zelandi of East Boston; proud Nana to Leah, Nick, Rebecca, Bridget, Rose, Catherine and Hilary.

Phyllis Stella

Retired Stitcher

Phyllis Stella of Quincy Avenue, Winthrop, formerly of East Boston and Lynn, died at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Weston on April 15 after a long illness. She was 89 years old.

Born in East Boston, she was the loving daughter of the late Francesca (Pugliarus) and Sebastian Savoia. She was a resident of East Boston and Lynn before moving to Winthrop in 1955. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a stitcher in the garment industry for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Domenic Stella and the dear sister of Josephine Stella of Saugus, Concetta Colarossi of Winthrop, Jennie Zolla of Bedford and the late Vincent, Domenic, Angelo and Benjamin Savoia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mario DiGregorio

Retired Regional Sales Representative for US Plywood

Mario J. DiGregorio, a 49 year resident of Lynnfield, formerly of East Boston, died on April 12 at Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, Florida following a brief illness. He was 82 years old.

Born and raised in East Boston, he was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1945. He entered the US Army in January of 1946 and served until February of 1947. He graduated from MIT in 1952 and worked for US Plywood for more than 35 years, retiring in 2005 as Regional Sales Representative. He was a long time active member of the Salem Country Club.

He moved to Lynnfield in 1961 and remained there until his death. For the past 25 years, he has wintered in Cape Coral, Florida.

He was the husband of the late Vera A. (Anzalone) who died in 1976; father of Robert J. DiGregorio of Georgtown, Thomas DiGregorio of West Peabody and John DiGregorio of Lynn. He also leaves three brothers, Conrad DiGregorio of Orient Heights East Boston, Riccardo DiGregorio and his wife, Jay, of Wakefield and Roberto DiGregorio and his wife, Louise, of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his grandson, Andrew DiGregorio of Georgetown, his devoted companion, Lillian DePari of Lynnfield and many nieces and nephews.
