The Eastie Jets took on the Mission Hill Buccaneers this past Sunday November 1. The Jets played a great game but lost to Mission Hill by a score of 28-0.
The jets played very well on both sides of the ball but could not capitalize. The Jets defense played very well but couldn’t keep the oversized Buccaneers out of the end zone.
Shane Corbett,LJ Green,Lenny Pena, Jaylin PENA, Dilan Herrera turned in strong defensive performances.
The offense played just as well but they couldn’t put the ball into the endzone. Tyler Clark, Billy Henderson, Frankie Serpa, and Chad Williams were solid performers on offense.
It looked good in the third quarter when Thomas Henderson took a kickoff return back for 45 yards but the Jets could not capitalize on the following downs.
There was some great hitting and blocking in this very physical game. Christian Santalina took a hard hit trying to block for a play in the fourth quarter that resulted in a 20-yard gain, but Santalina showed his toughness and continued to play hard-nosed football.
These kids are a great bunch of kids and they play very hard. You will be seeing great things from these boys next year and future years to come.
Once again my favorite part of the game, of course, was the spirit shown by the East Boston cheerleaders. They are great and I have so much fun watching these little smiling faces having fun and cheering their hearts out no matter what’s going on with their team. They always have a huge smile.
Well, this was the season ending game for some of the boys but remember the EAST BOSTON JETS C team is in the playoffs this Wednesday, November 4 at 6 p.m at home in Santori Stadium in East Boston, so please come out and show these kids that fought so hard to get where they are, our support. This is their first playoff game and they need a good crowd behind them so get out here and cheer them on.
