Salesian Boys & Girls Club 7th Annual Swing Fore Kids Golf Classic

The Salesian Boys & Girls Club hosted its 7th Annual Swing Fore Kids Golf Classic Monday at the Winthrop Golf Club.

Many golfers, teeing off in foursomes, enjoyed a pre-tournament breakfast, a round of golf, food and drinks, and a post-tournament luncheon inside the club.

Winthrop’s Kevin Adamson – one of Saint Dominic Savio High School’s greatest three-sport (football, basketball, and baseball) athletes in its history, led his foursome to a first-place finish in the tournament. Adamson was a starting guard on the 1988 Savio basketball team that lost in a triple overtime classic to eventual state champion Milton High School in the state semifinals at the Boston Garden.

“Kevin made a ton of birdie putts,” said Salesian Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Mike Triant. “When I think of my son (Chase Triant), I want him to be like Addie. He is a phenomenal athlete and now he’s coaching golf and girls basketball at Winthrop High.”

Joining Adamson on the victory platform were Lou Chianca, Ronnie Vitale, and Bobby DiLorenzo, a member of the Winthrop Golf Club.

Shawn Theriault won the Longest Drive Contest. Chris Previte, a classmate (1997) of Executive Director Mike Triant  at Dom Savio, won the Closest To The Pin Contest.

Director of Development Anita Belmonte and Director of Operations Jim Geraci cordially welcomed golfers to the registration table on a beautiful summer-like day at the WGC.

Spinelli’s, Channel Fish, and Jet Blue were the corporate sponsors.

“We’re very grateful to our sponsors and all the guys who support us,” said Triant. “We try our best to give them a great day on the course – food and drink – and let them have a fun day of golf.”
