Mayor Michelle Wu and Josh Kraft secured spots in the Nov. 4 general election by finishing in the top two spots in the field of four candidates in Tuesday’s Boston preliminary election.
Candidates Robert Cappucci (3%) and Domingos DaRosa (2%)were eliminated in the mayoral election.
The Associated Press projected within the first 40 minutes after the polls closed at 8 p.m. that Wu and Kraft would advance to the Nov. 4 final election.
As of press time, with 13 percent of the returns tabulated, the unofficial numbers show Wu with 8,445 votes (65%) and Kraft with 3,814 votes (30%). Cappucci was at 3% and DaRosa was at 2% as of press time.
Wu was a city councilor-at-large before winning the mayor’s office in 2021.
Kraft was making his first run for elective office. He is the former executive director of the Jordan Boys and Girls Club in Chelsea and served as president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
