During the Gove Street Neighborhood Association’s (GSNA) monthly meeting in July, attendees heard updates on several topics in what was an abbreviated meeting that lasted about half an hour.
To begin the meeting, District A-7 police officers provided updates on criminal activity in the area. Office Hugo Alvarez said that the Gove Street area has been relatively quiet, except for common issues such as package theft, cars being left unlocked, and fraud/scam incidents.
Alvarez and Sergeant Joseph Cintolo also noted that a shooting occurred in the neighborhood in the area of Saratoga Street and Brandywyne; in-depth details were not available at the meeting.
In another update, Neel Batra, a GSNA Board Member, noted that the Mount Carmel site has been cleaned up, and a community member who has been involved with the process credited State Representative Adrian Madaro’s office and the police for getting the site cleaned up.
Further, Batra indicated that the Gumball Factory is working with a company to install electric vehicle charging stations outside the building. A resident noted that the installation had not occurred yet at the time of the meeting, and they are awaiting an update.
A representative from Eastie Farm also provided information about their organization, noting that their “Second Semester CSA” will begin on August 18th. As part of the CSA, folks can buy shares in what “is a subscription to weekly fresh, local produce that supports farmers’ wealth, your health, and the Massachusetts commonwealth,” per the organization’s website.
