Thomas C. Irwin died in East Boston, Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Tom was a retired bus driver for the MBTA and Paul Revere Transit. He enjoyed word search puzzles and all Boston sports teams with a special fondness for the Bruins, since he had been the captain of his East Boston High School hockey team. His proudest job was being the personal chauffeur to all his grandchildren.
The beloved husband of 57 years to Anne Marie (DiCesare) Irwin, he was the loving father of Marybeth Triant and her husband, Nicholas Triant Sr. of Winthrop, Anne Irwin-Zirpolo and her husband, Joseph Zirpolo of East Boston and the late Theresa Irwin; devoted grandfather of Marie Triant, Nicholas Triant Jr. and his wife, Valentina, Elizabeth Triant and Thomas Zirpolo and brother of the late John Irwin and his wife, Leona. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his cousin, Christine Viscay of Saugus.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Michael the Archangel Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday morning, June 27, at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory to Boston Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston 02114 would be appreciated.
