Guido Guarino, a cherished patriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in Boston, at the age of 93.
Born on November 30, 1931, in the quaint town of Mirabella Eclano, Avellino, Italy, Guido was the beloved son of the late Agostino and Colomba (Morella) Guarino. His journey led him from the rolling hills of Italy to the vibrant communities of Boston, where he established deep roots and a legacy of kindness. Guido’s life was marked by the loving bonds he formed and the gentle grace with which he approached the world.
He was the devoted husband of the late Pasqualina (Morelli) Guarino, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they raised a family that would become Guido’s pride and joy, including their late children: Angela Guarino Faretra and Agostino “Steven” Guarino. Though they predeceased him, the love and values they shared continue to resonate within the family. The Guarino family tree flourished under Guido’s nurturing care, with branches extending to his adored grandchildren, Janelle and Marissa. They, along with many loving nieces and nephews, are a testament to Guido’s enduring influence and the warmth he brought to every life he touched. Guido’s siblings, the late Caterina Bruno, Ernestino Guarino, Giuseppe Guarino, Maria Bruno, Eleanor Iovanna, and Delfina Federico, shared in the richness of his life’s journey. The memories they created together are cherished treasures that continue to bring comfort and joy to all who knew them.
Family and friends will honor Guido’s life by gathering at St. Joseph – St. Lazarus Parish, Ashley Street, East Boston, on Saturday, April 26th from 9 to 11 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Guido being laid to rest with his beloved wife, Pasqualina, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. May they rest in peace. In accordance with the family’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Guido’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
