Anthony “Tony” DiMaio

Retired Mechanical Engineer known for his gregarious personality and boundless sense of humor

Anthony E. “Tony” DiMaio, 93, of Groveland passed away on Sunday, December 3 at Anna Jaques Hospital.

Tony was born on September 19, 1930 to Concetta (Sarni) and Nicholas DiMaio. He was raised in East Boston and attended local schools, including Boston English High School. He went on to attend Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University.

Tony spent twelve years in the 102nd interceptor fighter wing of the Air National Guard. He was activated in the Air Force in 1961 and was stationed in Strasbourg France. 

Following his military career, Tony began a remarkably successful career as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked on the Mercury Space Program at MIT in the nineteen sixties and held executive positions with several companies including Marson Corporation, Gesipa Fasteners and Nylock Corporation. Tony was granted twenty-six patents over his distinguished career. Later in life he and his wife Jean owned Quality Market in Barre, Vermont for several years. Even in retirement, he was unable to stay idle, he operated a successful consulting business and authored numerous articles for industry publications until the time of his passing. 

Tony was active in local politics in Georgetown, Ma in the nineteen seventies where he served as the first Chairman of the Board of Health and later served as Water Commissioner.

He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed gardening, cooking Italian food, and was known for his gregarious personality and boundless sense of humor.

Tony and Jean loved to travel throughout Europe and the United States. 

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jean (Rogers) DiMaio; his children, Stephen DiMaio and his wife, Donna of Georgetown, Adrienne Melling of Newburyport, Tony DiMaio Jr. and Ladonna Maldonado, both of Haverhill, Dean Peterson and his wife, Nancy of Saint Johns, FL, and Tricia Welch and her husband, Greg of Georgetown; his grandchildren: Christopher, James, Karmen,  Tianna, Michael, Jonathan, Katie, Nicole, Taylor, Patrick, Cameron, Haylie and Kane and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tony was predeceased by his siblings: his sisters Thelma Giardina, Mary Dion and Eva Montana, his brother, William DiMaio and sons, Nicholas DiMaio and Eric DiMaio.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16th, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home Function Hall.

Giuseppa Cunsolo

She lived her life devoted to her family

Giuseppa (Viola) Cunsolo of Revere died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, December 9th. She recently celebrated her 82nd birthday on December 4th.

Giuseppa was born on December 4, 1941. Together with her husband, they moved from Pietraperzia to East Boston in 1973 and finally to Revere in 1995. She lived her life devoted to her family, who were always her top priority.

The beloved wife of the late Rocco Cunsolo, she was the loving mother of Vincenzo Cunsolo and his wife, Viviana of Peabody, Michele unsolo and Giuseppe Cunsolo, both of Casale, Italy and Filippo Cunsolo of Revere; cherished grandmother of Rocco Cunsolo of Revere, Vincenzo Cunsolo and his wife, Maria of Somerville, and the late Rocco Cunsolo; dear sister of Maria Viola, Sara Viola, and Calogero “Lillo” Viola, all of Italy and the late Salvatore Viola, the late Concetta Viola, the late Vincenza Salvaggio and the late Fillipo Viola. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, in the United States and Italy.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours today, Wednesday, December 13th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza Beechwood Home for Funerals, 262 Beach St. Revere. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, December 14th at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere. Interment will immediately follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Giuseppa’s memory to a charity of your choice. Anthony “Red” Morelli, Sr.

Church organist and retired letter carrier

Anthony G. “Red” Morelli Sr. of Everett entered into eternal rest on Thanksgiving morning, November 23 in the Oosterman’s Rest Home in Melrose.  He was 94 years old.

Red was born in Boston and lived in Everett for most of his life. He was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service retiring after 30 plus years of service. Red was also an accomplished organist having played the organ at various churches for Masses until he was unable to do so. 

He was the son of the late Nicholas and Margaret (Ferrara) Morelli, the beloved husband of Doris M. (Stevezzoli) Morelli, celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on November 21, 2023; the dear and devoted father of Nancy Womboldt and her late husband, Howard of Waltham, Anthony G. Morelli, Jr. and his wife, Rita of Wakefield, Richard Morelli and his wife, Kathryn of Saugus, Elaine O’Donnell and her husband, Brian of Millis and the late Albert Morelli and his surviving wife, Angela of Indiana; the dear brother of the late Nicholas and his wife, Evelyn Morelli; the loving Papa of Danielle Womboldt and Von, Marc Womboldt and Patricia, Stephen Morelli and his wife, Melissa, Brian Morelli and his wife, Colleen,  Ariana Fosco and her husband, Marco-Antonio, Anthony Morelli and his husband,  Josh, Paul Vrooman and Giovanna, Amanda Vrooman and Steve, Allison Sickles and her husband, David, Nicholas Morelli, Gabriel Morelli and Angelica, Abigailjane Morelli;  the loving great Papa Red of eleven; the dear uncle of Nicholas Morelli, Michael Morelli and Margaret Connell; and brother-in-law of Claire Stevezzoli.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Anthony’s visiting hours in the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home,  65 Clark St. (Corner of Main St.) Everett today, Wednesday, November 29  from 4  to 7 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., East Boston, Thursday at 10 a.m. (Please meet directly at the Church).  Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anthony’s memory to St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., East Boston, MA 02128 or to Most Holy Redeemer Church, 65 London St., East Boston, MA 02128 would be sincerely appreciated.  Parking with attendants on duty.
