Last year East Boston residents were thrilled when the annual Taste of Eastie, East Boston Main Streets’ (EBMS) signature yearly event, was switched from the winter to the summer.
For over two decades Eastie residents and EBMS supporters wondered why the annual event that showcases Eastie best restaurants was held in the dead of winter. For years other local restaurant celebrations, like the Taste of the North End, are always held in the spring or summer months.
Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic EBMS board decided last summer it was safer to hold the annual event outdoors and showcase Eastie’s majestic waterfront.
Building on the success of last summer’s event EBMS will again host the Taste of Eastie outdoors along the waterfront.
This year, the 26th Annual “Taste of Eastie” will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Tall Ship 1 Pier Drive. A rain date has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 2.
EBMS Board President Ida Candreva said this year’s milestone event will celebrate the strength and resiliency of the Eastie Community in the face of the pandemic.
“The economic health caused by the pandemic over the past two years, has significantly impacted the world and our community, but I am amazed at how our East Boston community has come together, to support each other, in various different ways,” said Candreva. “This, our 26th Annual Taste of Eastie, is a sure sign of the strength within our neighborhood, and with our small businesses – this event celebrates their strength and their resiliency.”
Candreva encourages those that will be attending to take public transportation due to very limited valet parking first come, first serve.
This festive event will feature food from more than 30 local “Eastie” restaurants, music, as well as raffles and prizes.
All in all the 26th Annual Taste of Eastie will feature a wide array of food from Mexico, Peru, Italy, America and beyond from over two dozen local restaurants.
“A special thanks to the 2022 Taste of Eastie’s Hosts: Carolina Trujillo from La Voz Newspaper and Alberto Vasallo III, from El Mundo Newspaper,” said Candreva.
Tickets are $50.00 at the door and can be purchased online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/326332648737.
