Frances Pittella

Of Peabody, formerly of East Boston

Frances M. (Esposito) Pittella of Peabody, formerly of East Boston, passed away on July, 9.

The beloved wife of Armando Pittella, she was the devoted mother of Joseph Pittella and his wife, Carmen of Methuen, Donna Ebba and her husband, Ralph of Peabody, formerly of East Boston, dear sister of Frank Esposito of East Boston, Anthony Esposito of Chelsea, William Esposito Jr., and Lillian Shialdone, loving grandmother of Kristina Dahbour and Andrea Pittella and cherished great grandmother of Chase and Jemma Dahbour. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Michael David Faretra, Jr.

He Will Be Missed by Many

Michael David Faretra, Jr. of Ayer, formerly of Westford and East Boston, passed away on July 7.

Michael loved the outdoors, especially his summers spent at East Boston Camps. He enjoyed long nature walks with his love, Jessica and his dog, Bonnie. Michael loved working out and eating his mom’s cooking. He enjoyed watching any Boston sports, but he especially loved watching the Celtics with his dad. Michael will be missed by many.

The beloved son of Michael Sr. and Vanessa (Braswell) Faretra, he was the father of Keanna Faretra and he also leaves the longtime love of his life, Jessica Martinez. He was the dear brother of Troy, Trevor, Nicholas and Isabella Faretra and loving grandson of Catherine (Kiten) Braswell and the late Rosemary Faretra and David Hamilton (Papa); adored uncle of Lila, Leilani, and Rose and cherished nephew of Melissa Herron and Corine Keohane. He is also survived by many loving cousins and his dog, Bonnie (babygirl). 

Family and friends will honor Michael’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, East Boston today, July 13 at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the Most Holy Redeemer Parish, East Boston, for an 11 a.m. Mass. Edmund Silva, Jr.

Retiree of East Boston Savings Bank, Past Board Member and Treasurer of East Boston Little League

Family and friends attended visiting hours on Sunday, July 10 at Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach St., Revere for Edmund Silva, Jr. who died in the loving presence of his family at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Thursday, July 7 following a brief Illness. He was 75 years old. His funeral was conducted from the funeral home

on Monday, July 11 followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., East Boston. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Eddie was born in Winthrop, raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1964. He went on to earn a certificate in Banking School, went to work for East Boston Savings Bank and became a Loan Officer, a career that spanned over 35 years. Eddie also worked a second job, also over 30 years at the Wonderland Dog Track as a Para Mutual Clerk.

During these early years, Eddie met Carol Morrissey and after a courtship of five years, they were married on May 3, 1970. At this time, Eddie and Carol remained in East

Boston, where they began their life and family together.

He was a very proud and loving father to his two sons, Anthony and Edmund, III and was ever present in their lives. He participated in their athletics and also coached them along the way. Eddie was most proud to have coached two back to back State Championship Sr. Baseball Leagues, 1986-1987. He was a mentor to many young boys that he coached and knew along the way.

Family was most important to him and he cherished them dearly. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and being with his grandchildren. They later moved to Saugus where they were closer to their children and grandchildren and dying with every win or loss.

Eddie was a past board member and treasurer for East Boston Little League. 

The devoted husband of 52 years of Carol A. (Morrissey) Silva of Saugus, formerly

of East Boston, he was the loving and proud father of Anthony Silva and his wife, Maria of Somerville and Edmund Silva, III and his wife, Kelli of Peabody, the cherished papa of Brandon Silva and Katlyn Silva of

Somerville and Michael and Megan Silva of Peabody; treasured son of the late Edmund and Maria (Tedesco) Silva and dear brother of the late Anthony Silva. He is also lovingly survived by many cousins, friends and extended family. Remembrances may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place Boston, MA 02215.

Joseph Goddard

Draper Labs Retiree

Joseph W. Goddard of Malden, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6 at 75 years of age. 

An employee of Draper Labs for over 30 years, he was the beloved husband of 48 years to Mary (Raffo) Goddard, the devoted father of Joseph Goddard and his partner, Nicole O’Leary and Tracey Goddard; dear brother of Millie, Claire and John Goddard and Elizabeth Milon and cherished grandfather of Brittany Grimmer, Joshua Horgan, and Ashelley O’Leary. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
