Give Public Skating a Try This February Vacation

When February Vacation rolls around parents are usually scrambling to make plans for their children and families. While some families will go on vacation, many families will stay home because parents are still working.

Finding a good inexpensive winter activity that can keep their kids active and out of the house instead of glued to a device for the duration of vacation can sometimes be challenging.

Residents looking for something to do during February Vacation can head over to the Porrazzo Rink for public skating
each day at 2pm.

Luckily in East Boston there’s the Porrazzo Skating Rink that can offer a few hours of fun activity during vacation week. Public skating at the Porrazzo is a great way to spend time with friends and family.

Public skating at the Porrazzo down on Constitution Beach will be held each day during vacation at 2pm and costs only $6 if you have skates and $12 if you need to rent a pair. There is also a snack bar on site serving pizza, fries, hot chocolate and other treats.

The rink is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public ice skating facility, overseen by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). FMC Ice Sports has been operating the arena for DCR since 2005 and provides patrons with affordable recreation in a clean, safe, and well maintained facility.

If you do end up checking out public skating at the rink you can also learn about the variety of programs FMC offers for all ages and abilities.

In fact, registration is now open for FMC’s Learn to Skate Spring Session. Classes start February 28th and schedules vary for the Spring Session due to seasonal arena schedules.

If you do decide to head to the rink this vacation please be advised that there is a mask mandate currently in place requiring all skaters and spectators to wear a face covering at all times when in the facility.
