Wu wins Eastie, leading Essaibi George for next Mayor of Boston as of press time

In a historic election where two female candidates of color squared off for the first time for the Boston Mayoral seat Michelle Wu won.

With all 14 Eastie Precincts reporting, Wu beat Annissa Essaibi-George 3,603 to 2,554.

On Tuesday night, with just under 20 percent of precincts reporting citywide at press time, Wu was leading Annissa Essaibi George 60 percent to 40 percent.

In Eastie, At-Large City Councilor Michael Flaherty topped the ticket in that race with 2,849 votes followed by Julia Mejia who received 2,526 votes. The two top vote getters in Eastie were followed by Dave Halbert with 1.913 votes and Ruthzee Louijeune with 1,834 votes. The At-Large ticket was rounded out by Erin Murphy, Carla Monteiro, Bridget Nee-Walsh and Althea Garrison.

As of press time, the citywide results of the At-Large field were not yet reported.
