Upcoming Events at the East Boston Branch Library
SAT Prep Workshop Series
Thursdays, Feb. 6 – March 12 at 6 p.m.
SAT course designed for high school students who need an efficient preparatory class in a condensed amount of time. The course will focus on test topics that will impact your score the most. Students will learn test strategies to help tackle different types of test questions and how to put it all in context with your college goals. This program will run for five weeks and has limited seating. There will be no class during February school vacation week. Music As Art Gallery Presents: Free Winter Concert at the East Boston Branch Library
Saturday, Feb. 15, 1-3 p.m.
Join us for this winter concert featuring classical music, big band, swing and jazz standards. Let the music warm your heart and soul in the dead of winter.

FREE FAMILY FUN AT BOSTON COMMON WINTER FEST FEBRUARY 20
Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Children’s Winter Festival on Boston Common in partnership with the Highland Street Foundation during school vacation week on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other sponsors include XFINITY and L.L. Bean.
“Come join us for the Children’s Winter Festival with free, fun activities during vacation week for Boston Public Schools,” said Mayor Walsh. “The Parks Department has planned an event full of entertainment giving children and families an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the season on Boston Common.”
Attractions will include the 45-foot-long Toboggan Tunnel mountainous adventure with twin roller lanes, the Snow Mazing maze, the Snowzilla Jr. inflatable winter-themed slide, a ride on the three-car Trackless Train, and hands-on games including Giant Connect4, Baggo, Giant Horseshoes, Inflatable Skee Ball, and much more. L.L. Bean’s Bootmobile will be on-site for a photo-op and their Outdoor Discovery Program team will offer sledding and snowshoeing (weather permitting) or a Maps and Compass Challenge if there is no snow.
In addition, Disney is celebrating the release of FROZEN 2 available on Digital February 11 and Blu-ray™ February 25 with free giveaways and a chance to win a copy of the movie and XFINITY is providing a vintage 1960s Volkswagen bus converted to a photo bus so bring your best pose and let XFINITY’s Photobus take your group’s photo. The festival will also feature the Magic 106.7 street team with giveaways (while supplies last), activities with the Girl Scouts of Eastern MA, the Mayor’s Mural Crew, New England Aquarium, a family Zumba class, and hot tea from DAVIDsTEA.

East Boston Social Center’s Senior Program offering Spanish Language Classes
The Senior Program at the East Boston Social Centers is now offering Spanish Language Classes for adults over 60 years old. Classes are held every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Room 209. All are welcome to attend. Class is taught by Mr. Montaro. No need to register, just come by on Wednesday at 10 a.m. for this fun class. The East Boston Social Centers is located at 68 Central Square.

LEARN ITALIAN FREE
The class will be held at Robert DeLeo Senior Center, 35 Harvard Street Winthrop for residents age 60 and above.
Whether you have Italian ancestry, or just want to learn one of the world’s most beautiful languages, join us at  informal  and friendly Italian language and culture classes. Wednesday afternoons from 1:15 to  2:45 p.m. For info call 617-846-8538.

GRACE CHURCH NEWS AND EVENTS
Grace Church Federated is an Episcopal/United Church of Christ church located at 760 Saratoga Street in East Boston. All are welcome. Please join us for Sunday morning worship at 9:30 a.m., followed by a coffee hour. We also have a food pantry on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until noon in the church basement. There are a number of ways you can help us to serve East Boston. Volunteer at or contribute to the food pantry. Sing with the Festival of Lessons and Carols choir. Bring a dish to the monthly Sunday evening community suppers. Participate in the Sunday worship service. Help with SundaySchool. 4th Annual Valentines East Boston Open Market
The 4th Annual Valentines at the East Boston Open Market will take place on Sunday Feb. 9, 2020. Held at the Eddy, and located just a few blocks from Maverick T, The market features local Makers and Artists in a myriad of genres including jewelry, artwork, home decor, children’s items, pet treats, woodworking, leather goods and more!
East Boston Open Market is a community driven market, with nominal fees to Vendors, and donated spaces for local non profits and schools.
Live music by Lala Suarez, and our biggest line up of Artisans to date with over 40 on two floors! In addition, the Bacon Truck will be out front!

East Boston Senior Lunch Program
If you are 60+ years of age, the East Boston Social Centers at 68 Central Square in East Boston has a table and a meal waiting for you!
The Senior Lunch Program sponsored by ETHOS Congregate Meal Program provides a hot, nutritious lunch, along with wonderful socialization, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A suggested donation of $2 is asked.
The East Boston Social Centers welcome seniors from our East Boston Community and surrounding areas.
