Yvonne M. Leone of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14. She was 82 years old.
The cherished daughter of the late James and Blanche (Forrest) Thornell, she was the loving mother of Carmen Leone and his wife, Diane, John Leone and his wife, Donna and the late Michael and Gary Leone; adored grandmother of Nicole Fogarty and her husband, Matthew, Monique Leone, Amanda Leone, Ashley Leone, Michael Leone, John Leone, and Karissa Sabatino and cherished great-grandmother of Aiden, Brynn, Sienna, Cameron, Mikaila, Dom, Paul, Bella, Jayanna and Brayden. She was the caring sister of Frances, Annette, and the late Fred, Donald, Wally, Jimmy and Joan and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Yvonne’s life at St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St. East Boston on Friday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Yvonne’s memory to the Revere League for Special Needs, 200 Winthrop Ave Revere, MA 02151. Phyllis A. (Poto) Bettano of Malden, formerly of East Boston, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 15. She was 96 years old.
The beloved wife of the late Roy J. Bettano, she was the loving mother of Joseph Bettano of Lynnfield, Doreen Iovanna and her husband, Bob and Roy Bettano, all of Malden, Kenneth Bettano and his wife, Michelle of Melrose and Christine Iannillo of Winthrop; dear sister of Eleanor T. Hitchings of Revere and the late Theresa M. Meads; cherished grandmother of Jason and his wife, Setefanie, Robert and his wife, Denisse, Kerri, Alaina, Skylar, Danielle, Carly, Darryl and his wife, Holly. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor Phyllis’s life by gathering in Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach St., Revere today, Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 8:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to St Joseph –St Lazarus Church in East Boston for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in her honor at 10 a.m. Interment is private.
