Vasilios Anthopoulos

Of Winthrop, formerly of Greece

Vasilios Anthopoulos, a long time resident of Winthrop, formerly of Greece, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon,  January 2.

He was the beloved husband for over 56 loving years to Melpomeni (Papadopoulos); devoted father of  Sophie Vessiropoulos and her husband, Antonis, Harry Anthopoulos and his wife, Marianna and Bessy Anthopoulos, all of Winthrop; cherished grandfather of Peristera Maria, Melpomeni Dimitra, Carol Ariel, Isabella Lorraine and Adam Alexander and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will honor Vasilios life by gathering today, Wednesday, January 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston and again on Thursday morning at 9:30 before leaving in procession to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 11 Church St., Lynn for a funeral at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Mr. Anthopoulos being laid to rest in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle section). In honoring Mr. Anthopoulos and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 11 Church St., Lynn.
