Michael Chioccola

American Airlines Retiree and Union President; Life Member of Winthrop Elks

Michael A. Chioccola a longtime Winthrop resident, passed away in Concord, NH on March 19 after a brief illness.

Born in East Boston, the loving son of the late Gaetano Chioccola and Mary Grasso, he was educated in the Winthrop School system, graduated from Winthrop High School and later attended Suffolk University.

He enlisted in the US Airforce during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. A Life Member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks 1078, he was employed at American Airlines for 38 years and served as Union President for 10 of those years. Mike loved spending time doing community service, especially at the Winthrop Elks where he and his Board of Stewards prepared food for many of the youth activities in town.

Mike was the beloved husband of 63 years of Dorothy A. Spring and is survived by five children: Guy Chioccola of New Hampshire, Sheryle Morgan and her husband, Richard of Revere, Scott Chioccola and his partner, Julia Heath-Johnson of New Hampshire, Dawn Turgiss and her husband, Charles of Saugus and Lee Ann Simpson and her husband, Joseph of Revere. He was the loving brother of Josephine (Chicky) Smith and her husband of Woburn and Rose Marie Chioccola of Stoneham; the devoted grandfather of Christina Chioccola, Derek and Kyle Morgan, Michael and Jessica Simpson, Katie-Leigh Turgiss, Anthony Chioccola and the great grandfather of Dakota Farquette.

Funeral services were conducted at Frazier Funeral in Winthrop on March 22. Interment followed at the Belle Isle Section of the Winthrop Cemetery. Antonio Amico

Of East Boston

Antonio Amico of East Boston, formerly of Santa Caterina, Italy died on March 20.

He was the beloved husband of more than 52 years to Rosaria (Andolina); devoted father of Antonina Kubilis and Micheal Amico, both of East Boston; cherished grandfather of Michelle Kubilis; dear brother of Joseph Amico of Revere and the late Grazia Cermai, Josephine, Assunta, Michael and Salvatore Amico and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Carmella DiMonte

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Revere and East Boston

Carmella (Napolitano) DiMonte of Seabrook, NH, formerly of Revere and East Boston, passed away on March 16.

She was the beloved wife of Pasquale DiMonte; loving mother of Rosanne DiMonte of Billerica and Margaret “Margie” DiMonte of Arlington; dear sister of Rita Jones of California, Rose Napolitano of Revere and the late Lena Velardo, Mary Higgins, Jimmy, Anthony and Sam Napolitano and the cherished grandmother of Shaw Casey of Billerica and the late Michele Casey. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

June (Montalto) Zirpolo of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died on March 17. She was 85 years old.

The loving daughter of the late Josephine (Piscetti) and Joseph Peter Montalto, Sr., she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Zirpolo; cherished sister of Nancy Gagin and her husband, Robert of Winthrop, Joseph P. Montalto, Jr. and his wife, Arlene of Winthrop and the late Peter Montalto; sister-in-law of Dorothy Montalto; loving aunt of Stephen R. Gagin and his wife, Grace, Joseph Montalto and his wife, Nancy, Elizabeth Sorrentino and her husband, Mark, Kathleen Souza and her husband, David, Robert A. Gagin and his wife, Nancy, Lisa Montalto, and Marc Montalto and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews.

Albano, Anthony F. after a brief illness at age 43. Beloved husband of Diana Tournas-Albano and devoted father of Dalayna Christine Albano. Loving son of Anthony Albano and Joann Albano-Russo all of Revere.  Dear brother of Christine Albano-Martorelli and brother in-law of Mark Martorelli of Revere. Cherished uncle of Michael and Matthew Martorelli. Cherished nephew of Mary Mckinlay of Florida and Carmen Albano of Peabody. Son in-law of John Tournas & the late Sheila Tournas. also survived by many  uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
