The fifth installment of the EBMHL kicked off last Tuesday night at the Porazzo Rink on Constitution Beach in East Boston. After a long summer the boys were ready to roll, as game 1 saw Captain Peter Hanlon and his squad, Milano’s Deli take on Captain Dave Berardinelli and his troops, Team Basile. An amazing game that saw loads of up and down play and a scoring clinic put on by the boys of Milano’s Deli. It was Mike Burri kicking off the EBMHL scoring with the first goal of the season setting the tone early on their way to the rousing 8-3 victory over one of the leagues newest entrants, Team Basile. Joining Burri on the scoring sheet was league newcomers, Joey Salvadore and Steve Dixon who notched a pair a piece along with Peter Hanlon adding a pair of his own, and Dan Fitzmaurice with a single tally. For Team Basile, Mike Mondello buried a pair while Berardinelli added the solo goal. Game 2 saw the East Boston Yacht Club take on new entrant Market Cafe, in another lopsided affair.
Charlie Daniels and his squad showed up ready to go as spark plug Nick Clewer buried 4 goals, while Daniels added a pair of his own and Brendan Bonito with the solo tally on their way to the 7-2 victory. Sebastiano Amara added 3 assists for EBYC. Market Cafe goals came from Dan Pencinger and Brian Hayes. Game 3 saw, Dom DiMarzo and his defending champion Lightning Express take on the new entrant Ecco Restaurant. It was far from a celebratory evening for the defending champs as they faced a barrage from Darrell Internartolo’s Ecco squad. Ecco’s secret weapon emerged in David Preston who was all over the ice giving Lightning fits all game long and setting up 4 of the 6 goals that Ecco poured onto Lightning. Jeff Delpidio provided the hat trick, while Mike Rodrigues added a pair, and Mike O’Brien adding the loner. It was all DiMarzo for Lightning Express as he buried a pair in the 6-2 drubbing of the defending champs.
