Remember Just a Year Ago

When winter arrives it is like we are standing on the edge of doom and there’s no longer a chance to turn back the hands that will soon strike midnight and signal New England’s irrevers­ible winter. It’s around this time we all do a gut check because without a doubt we will all soon have an appointment with weather. By this time last year, East Boston had already been buried by three major snowstorms that dumped several feet of snow onto the neighborhood’s streets and closed schools, shops and restaurants for days. This picture taken last year on Bennington Street after a December blizzard shows how lucky we’ve been so far this year in regards weather.
